BF Evo, future weapons

Stable my rear end.... Apple would just say it was User Error.

That may be the case. Although i don't think apple is the only one that would blame humans for software malfunctions...
Hello IT support, have you tried turning it off and on? Is it plugged in? You're welcome.

Mental note, make sure all land mines are plugged in. Although if they hibernate they'll miss detonation....

Cordas.... Look man, a Mine isn't an IED.

An IED is unique in nature because the IED builder has had to improvise with the materials at hand. Land mines, on the other hand, generally refer to devices specifically manufactured.

I know what you are saying Hiro, one is built in a factory, the other in some garage, sometimes as a pure mine, other times it is a different form of munitions adapted.

Just watch the news at the moment we are being told here in the UK that Iran is supplying lots of munitions to Iraqi Sunni insurgents, yet once these weapons are used they are refered t as IEDs. The whole thing is about propoganda and spin.

The propoganda has made out that IEDs are used by bad people, and as we don't use IEDs we are obviously the good guys. I know this is an over simplification, but just watch the news for a few days........... and you will see what I am getting at.

True, but when it's the product (we're talking a hardware/software mix) that fails and they still blame it on the User? Good times...

Edit: Since we're on mines, let's introduce the next wave of Networked munitions:

Don't forget the error report too. You have to report the fault to microsoft who will then provide a patch the following week by which time Paris has fallen and all that remains of the EFTF is Britain and a small Gaulish village that is still defiant in the face of their invaders...

What more would you need? :D
Touche. They did it once, they can do it again.

It's a perfectly legitimate argument: I designed the software, I know every part of it. Why don't you you neanderthal? It must be your fault because I am smarter than you and you just aren't pushing the right buttons.

Some other stuff:

The scale of the Predator:

Navel remote turret:

And an addon to the M1A2, as part of the TUSK package:
COUNTER-SNIPER/ANTI-MATERIEL MOUNT (CSAMM)

Whats the rationale for the additional 12.7mm? Can't the commander's gun be used in the anti sniper role?

An additional M2 .50 Cal Machine Gun that's operated from the inside of the tank, where as the origionally mounted M2 needs the operator to expose himself to operate it?

Hmm... ;)

Besides, who wouldn't want two M2's mounted on a tank?

that's exactly what i thought when i saw it

"another MG on the M1A2.... awesome"

Seems like they are going back to the WW2 philosphy... if it has a enough space to mount an MG then mount an MG, if it doesn't have enough space to mount an MG, then what can we move / remove so we do have enough space to mount another MG. 8)

Hope the Evo Abrams doesn't get another MG.... they have enough already!!!!

Aha, well I wasn't aware the CO's gun couldn't be fired from under armour for a start :)

Some of the wires and other gubbins for the M2 over the 120mm looked a bit vulnerable, thats all. I had it in mind that the CO's gun was better protected.

Better than the New Zealand mines...
Piece of paper on the ground reads:
Hi, you've just triggered a deadly land mine. Because we're unable to actually manufacture or afford them, this mine works on the honour system. We ask that you would now cut off your leg while you are still concious.

Thank you. The New Zealand Army

This philosophy worked quite well in Vietnam too...

I'm pretty sure that most Abrams crews posted to Iraq disagree with you.

While I like the idea, I can't help but feel it's been clipped onto the tank in a similar manner to what was suggested for te British Jeeps that we were talking about on another thread. I would have thought that havingg a big o;' cannon was enough of a cs to not need another one. Besides which it would seem that the new cs's placement limits the cs's field of fire and wull mean that an Abrams is a sitting duck when trying to take out a snupee beacuse it's main gun won't be searching for other, more hostile targets.

Having said all that it still is pretty cool (although somewhat silly looking).

The same goes for every military vehicle, used by every force, all crews will want more guns, more armour and a faster more agile vehicle. If we followed this idea we would end with those horrible things from 40k.

If we ended with those horrible things from 40k, but they were better at doing their jobs than the current stuff I would not complain. Aesthetics should not be the main factor in judging combat vehicles.

Dose look like the the M1A2 bucket of mg converstion has been influanced by the school of warhammer, all we need now is side mounted lazer cannons :D !!!!
