AT-43 minis pictures.

I don't like the combat strider. It lookes like a demon-possessed conrete mixer.

The Overseer Girl looks nice, but i'd bind her a little more into the machine (a lot of additional plug-ins and some armour plates).
To me, she looks to apart from that critter she's driving.

The balletdancing combat strider would sink into the ground pretty quickly methinks, i kind of like both tho,, some cutting and converting on the strider and an Slaanesh paintjob on the other...

If you look in the center of the "butt", you can actually see a head sticking out.

Just thought I would share. :D

Well, that certainly gives a visual reference to the rather classic old phrase "You've got your head up your @$$", now doesn't it?
It looks as though I was close on my junkyard dog, but just had him pointed the wrong way  .

Nothing that couldn't be solved by a little electric wiring and some slight modding, eh?

Maybe this is a bit of overkill, but I think somewhere in between the original and this?

travelling man had them, easy to see why people part with their cash to get rakham stuff... the box lid opens and all of the figs are on view under plastic (like the old Lego boxes).
No pondering if they are any good, you can see them straight off.

Awesome! Other companies could learn from this strategy!

I was really impressed, standing looking at the box, wondering if the minis would be as good as the ones on the website, went to pick it up and the front cover lifts up...... there they are. Pretty impressed to say the least.
Also, looks good for Evo, as the online Evo models look better than the 'production' figs on Rackhams site. Definately a promising start to pre-painted 'real figures' (not clix crap).

trav man in bristol last week dint even aknowledge the game orthink it wouldbe out for crimbo. !!!!!!!!

The current production run is actually an improvement over the original paint job. After Mongoose released pics of the exos and lami pre-paints, Rackham went back to the factory and improved the paint job. Still not on the same level though. Also, I emailed the boys at Rackham a couple of months back and they said that the minis will be the typical soft plastic, unlike the rigid plastic that I have heard Mongoose will be using.

Those are all studio jobs, I've seen the retailing box and it looks quite dreadfull to say the least...Its no better then the various Clix systems from Wizkids and triple the price.

i know own a box:D

all i can say is Wow and awsome

we plan to play it as the box set, and get BFevo, the one the group votes on will be out larg scale scfi game, to be honest i have the feeling this may get the bigger vote due to painted terrain, and store support.

are they well apinted ? well there better painted than alot of SST minis i see ! there alot more grungy that sst prepints ive seen in the flesh.

and the bad guys totaly win me over, i definatly sugest mongoose look at how they did the bases on these ;)

very well produced, be nice to see how mongoose lauches their goods.

I'm looking forward to that too..... it's got to be an advantage, seeing what the others have done.
Big plus for the goose for me though: release schedule, Rackham aren't too forthcoming as yet. Nothing like a blank release schedule to put off the mini collector :)

Our group are getting both though, we love the AT-43 minis, but SST was a real revolution in mini rules for us. So we are already looking forward to EVO.

The ones I saw were in a box with a price tag on it.
The one's evil is talking about he actually owns..... each to their own I suppose.

IF you don't like the paintjobs, redo 'em. THe minis aren't that expensive. Even then, you can start playing right away and spend more time on the character models etc...
But as evil said, they are a damn site better than a lot of minis I've played against. And I'd rather paint my own and play against acceptable pre-paints than put up with the half finished crap held together with modelling clay and blu-tak we are used to :)

Anway, could everyone who has a pop at them put up a comparative example of their own work, that way rackham and mongoose could see just how good the pre-paints should be.

Evil quite likes them and he's a damn good painter/modeller. That's a pretty good recomendation for me.
I'm a fair painter, but I don't have the time to do the amount I need, I'd rather have the pre-paints and concentrate on the good stuff.

DSCF0017.jpg

That's one of mine, I like him, but at 'tabletop distance' he doesn't look much different to the AT-43 stuff. Worth the hour for a hero, but not for a squad IMHO

Time is a big factor for me as well. I am not a bad painter and do enjoy doing it as well, but having the time...Argh!!!

It will be nice to be able to simply pull them out of the box and go. As for comparing the two sets, I still like the Mongoose paint jobs better. From what I have seen of the two paint jobs, I can see why Mr. Evil likes the AT-43 stuff a lot. They have the "battle-worn" look to them, unlike the Mongoose stuff which seems very clean cut. Seems like it would be easy enough to fix with a quick drybrush.

hehehe

ok well here is a little thing for you

the AT minis are glued together but not overly strong, strong enough for gaming and abuse, bus if you prise bits with a knife you can part them ;). yes i have to tinker.

first up was the Toad, i prised of its canopy when i realised it was sorta a seperate peice, and inside was a fully detailed interior with a seat and controls, you can see they have plans to open one of these up in the future !!!

going on the AT forum i noticed in germany a guy took apart the Wraith (big alien thingy of death) and under his canopy was a pic of a orange see through bubble !!! i dont speak german well and my GF who normaly translates for me was in bed ! so i got out the trusty kitchen knife and prised open the Wraith to see its juicy inerds,, and there inside was the orange bubble, nothing overly inpresive and probably not worth damaging a mini to see, but inside there was detail !!!

Impressed by the minis ? more every second !

so what about the rules ? well you can move then shoot or shoot then move,, or if you have 2 guns you can shoot both befor or after movment or shoot one, then move then shoot the other !!!!!!, so you could shoot your short range weapon then retreat befor you shoot your long range weapon.

weapons dont have a range they have an acuracy, the further away the enemy are the harder it is to hit, so some weapons become inacurate at say 36" (laser rifle) while a ML has unlimeted range and a raith weapon has a huge range on it !!!!

some weapons also get several shot and rerolls so you could have 3 shots from a gun and one reroll to represent a slight shift in acuracy, so there is alot of fine tuning. some weapons have to get a lock on a target befor they can shoot, these have an unlimeted range, but can only target large objects and not infantry who are running all over the place.

its not your typical i go you go game either, its one unit then your oponents unit then your units, so some strategy on unit sizes could come into play here.

Bad point: no points values in the main box or cards, but then this is exsplained as a introduction to the game, and the points issue has been sorted in their in house magazine. another bad point is lack of information on future releases and when so its alot of speculation from what staff have mentioned in french posts.

ok this could be a bit wrong as my french and german is a bit rubbish

there is 11 species designed this is from a very rough translation my GF made, but she found it hard as she doesnt fully understand the subject matter.

there will be army boxes comming out, with maybe the army books in them.

oh and the game has been played with 100+ minis and was very smooth (but then HQ would say that)

the machines in the basic game have X hit points but the cards show hit points for the hull and a hit point for each gun and 2 legs, im sure this will be covered in the future when full rules get launched.

For my £50 i only feel cheated out of painting these fine minis, wich is odd i think,, i didnt think id feel that way.

the terrain bits are great by the way and according to reports ive read, the terrain can make alot of differance in the game with most weapons haveing a range of 30" befor its imposable to hit your target.

i realy sugest Mongoose check this game out befor their release ;) i think alot of companies could learn alot from this release.

If you have problems with german posts just mail (PN) me the links and I'll translate them/suck the info out of them.
Actually i am german, so I should be able to read them ;)
