If we do not hold with "but the Arts," then AI takes over creative pursuits and leaves us with nothing but the daily grind.I do not hold with "but not the Arts, darling" philosophy...
The purpose of automation was supposed to free us from the daily grind so we could all spend more time on creative pursuits.
It's likely more what can be established that artificial intelligence has directly ripped off from a still living artist.
so you dont think ai is involced when i sat alexa turn to channel x, or when the tv decides i might be interested in watching x?The only job a smart TV replaces is the kid forced to go change the channel. The landline providers went to internet, so their techs retained their jobs.
Maps with coordinates embedded became searchable before AI was strong enough to do anything, so AI there now just means you don't have to pull over or risk a wreck figuring out which turn to make.
AI needs to be used to make people safe, not lazy. Jobs that are dangerous, or that require speed and precision that people are not capable of, not art or writing. Writing, not spell checking.
I think you are failing to recognize the difference between something like Alexa or Siri and a generative AI that creates art.so you dont think ai is involced when i sat alexa turn to channel x, or when the tv decides i might be interested in watching x?
ok how bout this. i went to google and asked Do smat tvs use ai. here is the reply, please check it yourself.I think you are failing to recognize the difference between something like Alexa or Siri and a generative AI that creates art.
do you wanna see what it says about cell phones?ok how bout this. i went to google and asked Do smat tvs use ai. here is the reply, please check it yourself.
Yes, modern smart TVs increasingly utilize artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance picture quality, optimize viewing experiences, and integrate with smart home ecosystems.
Here's a more detailed look at how AI is being used in smart TVs:
Picture and Audio Enhancement:
Yes, modern smart TVs increasingly utilize artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance picture quality, optimize viewing experiences, and integrate with smart home ecosystems.
Here's a more detailed look at how AI is being used in smart TVs:
Picture and Audio Enhancement:
- AI Upscaling:
AI algorithms can upscale lower-resolution content to higher resolutions, resulting in sharper and more detailed images.
- Dynamic Image Optimization:
AI can analyze the content being displayed and adjust settings like brightness, contrast, and color to optimize the picture for the specific scene.
- Noise Reduction:
AI can reduce noise and artifacts in the picture, leading to a cleaner and more natural-looking image.
- Sound Optimization:
AI can analyze the audio content and adjust the sound output to optimize for different types of content, such as movies, music, or sports.
- Motion Blur Reduction:
AI can help to reduce motion blur, especially during fast-moving scenes, for a smoother viewing experience.
Smart Home Integration and User Experience:
- Voice Control:
AI-powered voice assistants, like Google Assistant and Alexa, are integrated into many smart TVs, allowing users to control the TV and other smart home devices with voice commands.
- Content Recommendations:
AI can analyze user viewing habits and make personalized content recommendations.
- Smart Home Hub:
Some smart TVs can act as a central hub for managing smart home devices, allowing users to control lights, thermostats, and other appliances from the TV screen.
- Energy Efficiency:
AI can help optimize energy consumption by adjusting screen brightness based on ambient lighting and content.
Examples of AI-Powered Smart TV Features:
- Samsung Vision AI:
Samsung's AI technology, which analyzes images in real-time to optimize settings such as color saturation, sharpness, and contrast.
- LG ThinQ AI:
LG's AI technology, which can control smart home devices, make content suggestions, and answer questions.
- AI Auto Game Mode:
This feature automatically optimizes the TV's settings for gaming, such as reducing input lag and adjusting the picture for optimal gaming performance.
- AI Energy Mode:
This feature adjusts the screen brightness based on the surrounding lighting to conserve energy

i gather its because they some how think we are actually stealing from the artist. what we really are doing is learning from the masters and making art from that knowledge. i in know part lift direct parts from my art from others. you will never see my art have a starsip flying through a STARRY NIGHT (artwork from van gough) but i see nothing wring wrong from having it fly through ai generated space. in the end they will win and kill ai art. what follows is that many small time writers will disappear and traveller will be made worse for it. not that they care as no of them are writing and publishing so they dont grasp the strain we have. Why are artists a protected class?
Coal miners, ship builders, steel makers didn't get special treatment, why should artists?
What about computer controlled lathes replacing craftsmen and a whole host of other jobs replaced by automation?
The working class has been thrown to the dogs, how about a boycott of goods not produced by local craftsmen?
lol rats i seriously need to wake up before i type either that or this form needs a spell checker.i gather its because they some how think we are actually stealing from the artist. what we really are doing is learning from the masters and making art from that knowledge. i in know part lift direct parts from my art from others. you will never see my art have a starsip flying through a STARRY NIGHT (artwork from van gough) but i see nothing wring wrong from having it fly through ai generated space. in the end they will win and kill ai art. what follows is that many small time writers will disappear and traveller will be made worse for it. not that they care as no of them are writing and publishing so they dont grasp the strain we have.
Have you ever used it? That's not true. You can give it the prompt "an airplane" and it can put an airplane in the image even if no airplane is already in the image. But it only uses things in the image you are editing, which means it is not creating the image out of the property of others.
Agreed on the rest.
How is Alexa changing your channel or finding a song on spotify, in your own home, stealing art from someone else?so you dont think ai is involced when i sat alexa turn to channel x, or when the tv decides i might be interested in watching x?
I can't stop 100% of evil, so I should just wallow in it, huh?Is the generative AI being used by cinema and TV ethically trained? If you don't know don't you have to stop watching TV and movies just in case?
I am sure the irony of the similar controversy around the time the printing press was introduced is not lost on the modern print industry (or that of lithography, or print on demand, or desktop publishing etc. etc.)Those darn new-fangled internal combustion engines... they'll send all the horses to the glue factory and the blacksmiths to the poor house, but one day, they'll get theirs... dagnammit.
