You are correct. He did not force them to do anything other than lose homes they bought based on the upper middle class salary the pipeline was bringing. They chose to get whatever jobs they could in order to feed their families, which brought in nowhere NEAR what they had been making before his disastrous policy decision. (Or maybe it was his handlers decision, since he was incompetent).
Universal basic income is slavery. The government owns you and you do what the government tells you or you lose your support.
Just like when Johnson incentivized single mothers with welfare reforms. They got more money if no man was in the house. Young men were chased out and many turned to gangs for a sense of belonging. The feminists only succeeded in turning poor women into tissue paper. It created generational poverty.
Post capitalism must be a system that raises the standard of living as much as capitalism raised the standard of living. Because NO OTHER system has raised the standard of living more than capitalism, and anyone who says otherwise is ignorant, a liar or both.
That is a bigger issue than throwing other people's money at the problem until you run out of other people's money.
