Fans of older RPGs will rejoice in the news that 2300AD, based on the Traveller engine, will be coming back next year. We have just (as of about half an hour ago!) agreed terms, and a certain Mr Colin Dunn is taking lead on the development of this line. Expect some serious 2300AD goodness in 2011...

This is great to hear. Especially with Colin on board. Just tell him for me, "no comet strikes". :)

I agree, though less so on the comet.

A war exacerbated by a near-miss comet that affects the weather, maybe?

AWESOME! I played in a long campaign that began in Twilight 2000 and continued on in 2300AD. It was one of my favorite games of all times.

Ah, well, I would have needed the new 2300 AD right now ... :(

... but I will of course be most pleased to get it in 2011. :D

:D This is gonna be fun.

It's not a comet strike, it's an asteroid strike. Sheesh...

Or not. Things just started moving today, so I'm not sure how we'll approach this.

Art direction is not up to me, but I have showed off Laurent's stuff to the Mongoose folks in the past, and I will continue to push it.

Thanks for all the good wishes.

Awesome! I really liked the setting, but was disappointed with the rules. I'm looking forward to it!

Can 2300AD operate as a cyberpunk setting too?

I would hope that rules are included for it. Though Colin is perfectly welcome to borrow some of the stuff I put up in the "Revised Bioscanners and Other Equipment thread" - provided I get credit (by my real name*).

*: Not Boris Blank. Boris Blank is a member of Yello.

The original 2300AD did. At this point, I'm not sure what direction the Human Core Worlds will take. There will be high-tech, fashion on overdrive, augmentations, hacking, memetic engineering, Social Cults, augmented reality, pervasive surveillance, jack-booted thugs, and Lord Chain.

Sounds fun, much more fun than more modern transhuman genre, even though I like that, too.

This has inspired me to finish painting my GZG Kra'Vak as Kafers along with their spiffing new Crawlers and Deathsled i picked up (rebel Minis Crawler and Brigade AmRep heavy tank). Just need to pick up a few not-Kangaroo's and not-Luki IX's from GZG and I have a Tanstaafl rumble ready to go!

I know my FLGS manager and I would be interested.

In terms of history around 2000, keep the Twilight War. Either original Soviets or extremist Russian nationalists work.
