Which Mongoose RuneQuest PDFs are Bookmarked

Mongoose
I find that in order for a PDF to be used easily as a reference it is vital that it must be bookmarked, unfortunately in the past Mongoose didn't include such bookmarks in their PDFs, but apparently they do now.

So, which RuneQuest PDFs are Bookmarked? Also, how extensive are the bookmarks? Just chapters? Chapters and section headers? Are there bookmarks for maps?

Thanks in advance!

I'm not aware of any RQ PDFs being bookmarked.

I purchased the Elric core book, Cults of the YK and Cities of the YK none of which are bookmarked. I'd bookmark them myself but I can't do it via Acrobat as they're secured documents and I don't know how to bypass that.

I must admit, I find that very frustrating. You can create documents in MS Word with extensive TOC's that are linked and then create them as a PDF which is bookmarked and has a linked TOC as well. I'd have thought publishers software would be significantly more advanced than MS Word.

It's not that hard to find tools that will do it. I'll see if I can find the one that I used.

Haven't seen any RQ pdf with bookmarks so far. I read pdf's on my ipad, and after lots of frustration using ibook - as well as over the jpg2000 issue, I finally understand how everything works and discovered goodreader. This brilliant reader allows just about everything: bookmarks, notes, edits, handwritten comments...

After only two weeks with myipad I now have all my manuals, scenario's, background, fanzines, and so on on my reader. I use handwritten notes to keep track of the date in three campaigns, when armor is ready, who does which training what, you name it. I have bookmarks with integrated notes in several of my pdf's already, and this includes ABC tabs in the monster coliseum, Chapter titles, map names and (some) table names.

I have halved the stuff I carry around, and am getting more and more organized, since I am browsing through the old stuff again, rediscovering interesting plots, plans, drawings, NPC's and so on.

This ipad plug courtesy of apple, I assume any 10" reader will be able to do something similar, I am definitely sold! I'm gonna go through the trouble of documenting how I use the thing for GMing on my blog soon, it's a brilliant tool.

Unfortunately you young-whippersnappers have it all over old dudes like me. I much prefer a hard copy to read from. Though I can definitely see the advantages, I mean you can carry a virtual library on something about the size of a small-ish A4-A5 notepad! If you don't mind reading from a screen...

Thanks Phil, I'll download it and do it at work. Just leave it in the folder for a day or so if you don't mind.

Well I finally got around to trying to add bookmarks to a Mongoose RuneQuest PDF, specifically RuneQuest Deluxe.

I had to unlock the PDF first and I used the aforementioned PDF Unlocker for this (available from here: http://free-pdf-unlocker.en.softonic.com).

I then used the JPdfBookmarks application to actually add the bookmarks (available from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/jpdfbookmarks/)

The unlock process increased the file size from about 25 Mb to 36 Mb but the bookmarking increased the file size only negligibly.

I obviously cannot distribute the now bookmarked PDF, but if anyone already has the RuneQuest Deluxe PDF I could send the text file that contains the bookmarks, then using JPdfBookmarks you could just import it and save the PDF with the bookmarks. I would be curious to see if that worked (PM me if you want the text file).

I aim to now bookmark Glorantha: The Second Age (MRQ1 version) :)

I use <http://www.pdfpasswordremover.com/> to take out the 'security' that Mongoose add to their PDF's. Having done so I can add bookmarks to my heart's content. I use Foxit Reader, a free product, that allows most of the features of Adobe's Reader including commenting and lots of otehr annotations. I can cross out obsolete material and add-in notes and make other changes as necessary.

The password remover is not Mac capable as far as I can tell. Foxit software is available from www.foxitsoftware.com

And that has now been done! Once again if anyone wants to bookmark file to import into their own PDF just let me know.

Ralios is next I think :)
