Which do you think you will favor...SST:Evo or AT-43

Now dont get me wrong, i have both a Bug and MI army of reasonable size but in my opinion, having seen the pictures of some of the new pre paints and having seen the AT-43 pre-paints in person.

As far as i can see, AT-43 beats what i have seen for SST: Evo, which dissapoints me considerably because i really enjoyed SST. I am of the opinion that since it wasnt broken, why has mongoose tried to fix it?

I personally like the AT-43 system and to those who say its a blatant 40k rip, how can you really say that? where in the fluff are they in ANY way similar? the same with the models, about the only similarity is their both 28mm.

well ive played all the scenarios, and after the games i felt a little empty !!!

AT-43 seems to miss some thing, not sure what it is !!!

by all probablity its just not the game for me, but im glad i had a month or so to find this out befor buying all the pretty extras.

as far as game sytems go, EVO has it IMHO but if you like pushing pretty mini look else where.

as the saying goese you cant ahve your cake and eat it,,,, not sure what else your suposed to do with cake but still.

im still on the fence with AT-43, it hasnt struck me as a great fun adictive game sytem to play.

To be fair those are the starter rules though aren't they?
Maybe they can add a lil' more oomph somewhere along the line?
That said Im not too sure about the background, I like the aliens fluff, but Im really gonna have to wait and see what the other alien races are like they sounded like they had the most promise...

Take a gander at the new advanced rules available for download. They include things like putting your units on overwatch, or ordering them to take cover which improves their armor save.

Also, damage tables for combat striders instead of life points, and now you can run down infantry!

AT-43 is laughable.

After seeing the game in the box, it looks far too much like someone just scrapped together a game and threw it out there.

The humans were great, event though there is no weapons options in the same way as the heads, but then again, for 40.00 at my local store, I have to say they had better run around the table without me touching them. 40.00 for 6. I guess the additional money is for the extra heads in the box. The shard guys look like the crappy enemies in Titan A.E. I hate them with a passion, and cant believe someone could actually think they were worth the effort. A better idea is to go scrounge up a few hundred horror clicks ALIENS or Predators and use them on normal bases.

If this company had put the effort into a WW2 game, and set thier sights realisticly, they might have done something. This game is a fad, and HEROSCAPE easily beats it in terms of rules, price, and product.

I don't see any reason to change my opinion of " Prepaints".

BF2 was a bit of a streach in that they are small. I care less then anything about the sploch paint, when I can just as easily play this game at 1/72 scale, and have numerous options already out there without having to wait for needless effort to reinvent the wheel. I'm only sorry that I spent any time being upset about the subject.

I can buy about five tanks and three boxes of infantry for the price of a squad. Great rules that are going to be played by me with 1/72. I hope and pray that they get it right with SST. I have been a fan of this game from the beginning, and I admired the fast flexable play of this game.

If the pictures do this game justice, and we can see a few more different ( AS IN NEW!!) armies, we may have a winner.

I don't need to bash other companies in that they are doing a good job of that for themselves, but in my final straw of having to wait around for a yet another Space Marine army, I have had my fill of triviality.

I have to admit that Matt did a so so job of damage control, and did save a little face in the matter, but I will be wary of all companies from now on, as I watch a flourishing gaming market slowly killing itself with medeocrity, and having to watch new ideas die off and watch as companies follow the herd.

SST is a very solid product, and in getting the prepaints, we are going to be additionally served in the fore products horrible modeling. We will all get the same standard of quality, and if we dont like that, 25-75%off of leftovers cant really be that bad.

I always loved the day after Thanksgiving the best, anyway.
As much TURKEY as I want with the drama of the family done and over... :P

I OFFER A SUGGESTION...

Mongoose, can you consider a WW2 Prepainted game? Its missing, theres a market, and a good one to be made.

Good job again on the save mongoose, I look forward to the new figures.

You mean more like 1/60 scale?-) BF:Evo(What's BF2 anyway?) models are about 28mm which would be 1/65, ie bigger than 1/72...

It's not Mongooses fault if no-one else can be bothered to make 1/72 scale actually 1/72 but more like 1/60 or bigger...

but then again, for 40.00 at my local store

40.00 in what currency!?!

Here in the US it's $25 for a unit of six, 30 for a large-based unit of 3. Ordered online from the Warstore, it goes down to 20 and 25.....

wow, 20dollars, might even make the porto worth paying (thats around 17 euros *rofl*)

If the game and models didn't suck, that is *goes back to finetuning his exosuit army list*

Oh, im so sorry...

they are 39.95, US $ but if you want to count tax, they are being sold here for 40.00... for six guys and six extra heads. This game isn't my thing, for any price. (I think its the extra heads that are the overpriced bits for the cost, myself.) :D

You can go have them for your price if you want to go ask the local shop. They arn't my thing, so I won't get them for any price.

As for BFevo/ BF2,sure, whatever.

tomato, tomato...

Yes.... The price at my local game store is 39 and some change, adding in the tax, your looking at 40+ dollers for some six guys and thier pet heads.

What really killed the goose was the 79.00 AT 43 boxed set.
I was mildly interested, but I will stick with my SST, thank you. Even if I will have the only army out there for a while.

I don't make the prices, you know. I will be playing my SST exclusivly, as I paint out my numerous GW trite and eventually start unloading it on the "Prepaint" markets...
I have a small batch of the Warmachine, as well, and may in the future start leaning over that way as well when I learn a bit more about this game.

I'll be very interested to see if I can interchange my army in the color scheme, and if the colors are easily repainted.

You might want to tell your game store to recheck their prices. I've seen them for $25 everywhere else. Not to mention $6.50 per miniature is overkill, even for Rackham.

The only thing in At-43 that is sold for 40 bucks is the alien mech releasing in March (it's the model in the demo set). And it's about 4 inches tall/wide.

From the Warstore the box is $64, the approx price of a warmachine and troop unit, but has more than twice that. An the AT-43 forum it was figured out to be worth about 100 bucks(which is more than true).

I'd confront your game store.

Sadly I think this prices are true. Rackham lowered US prices before it was released, but at the same time raised them here in Europe. The Steel Trooper Box here is now between 35 and 40$, excluding taxes.

Meh.

I don't even care. The game costs too much, it isn't my thing, and if you want to make something out of it, why don't YOU go have words with them over this weak byproduct of a game. The price is 40.00. If you get it where your at for less, your lucky. good for you. Buy it all up and stop trying to call me out on it.
As a matter of fact, why don't you convince ME that the AT-43 game is worth even .50 cents.

I already had my fun with them over SST, and ended up eating crow over it, I just don't have time for trite like that anymore.

Look, Im not posting any more or even bothering with this AT-43. The fact of the matter is that it is a game, it could easily be anything you wanted to fill in the blanks with. ( GW, MOngoose, ___Clix, battletech, whatever.) You either like it or you don't.

I don't. I'm waiting on SST, and if it sucks, Ill drop it like socks, sell all of my collection and go play something else.

well, right now i think it's safe to assume tha the game(AT-43)is even more dead than SST in my country. the number of people who ordered the game is probably around 100 ppl, and onlytwo internet shops carry the starter set.
it's a wonder-so many sensible people amongst the wargamers 8)

im currently about to sell my AT-43 on ebay.

if i manage to get £40 for it (cost me £50) thats 2 boxes of bf-evo

i liked the minis in the initiation box the booster box sets killed it for me though along with the constrictive rules.
