What book has the stats for Dredd, Hershey & other Judge

Mongoose
I have the main book and would buy more but I want the stats for the main character judges, why they were never in the main book is just stupid, its like the Conan rpg, no-stats for they guy the games named after, never makes allot of sense to me.

I can understand your point of view (there were at least Dredd and other iconic characters in GW's version). On the other hand, what are the odds that you end up in conflict with the Dredd (or Conan) in their game? Pretty small and as a GM, would you want to pit your characters against the icon? I wouldn't want to do that and thus the limited page count is better served to list the stats of other characters that you will more likely encounter.

Dredd and Conan are nice references to gauge your characters against but as such would probably be worthy an article in S&P or some other publication.

I disagree. These characters are the ones everybody knows and has a good idea of their capabilities. Therefore they are an invaluable reference point.

As a reference point, yes (like I wrote in my post) but how much use you really have for them when compared to more generic characters that you as a GM can use against your PCs? In that light I would rather use the space for generic NPCs as they are of much greater in game value to me when I run a game than some über character (Dredd, Conan).

Are those stats nice to have? Heck, yes :) Are they essential? IMHO, no.

It's quite feasible to include them in the background, but the thing is that Dredd is the sort of character you just don't roll dice for. Cthullutech didn't have stats for an awoken Cthullu, either.

everybody...has a good idea of their capabilities
Yes, but those capabilities are, given the evidence:

Shooting - He hits. You die.
Melee - He hits. You eat pavement.
Dodging - You land a hit only at suitably plot-driven moments. Otherwise, he dodges.
Social Standing - Sorry, you want a citizen to check to see if he's heard of Judge Dredd?

As Judge Niles says to Old Stoney Face in Tour of Duty: The Candidate -- "You're the gold standard."

Especially now that the upper echelons of Justice Dept. is composed of gutless wonders appointed by a spiteful fool...[/i]

There is also the fact - usually overlooked when people try to stat Dredd (such as when Mongoose did for the D20 'Mega City's Most Wanted') that they tend to underestimate Dredd's intellegence and ability to figure his way through evidence, in favour of giving him fighting stats as close to the max as you can get.

And his luck! :)

I still wish they would post stats for Judge Dredd for Traveller, instead of just that footnote in the corebook that he has a minimum of rank 6 in all relevant skills. As he is "the Gold Standard", he gives people something to aim for. Leaving out his stats is a bit of a cop-out. I hope they put his stats up in S&P soon.

As good as he is, Dredd is far from invincible. I've seen him in beat up by any number of opponents, eg Deathfist.
