Or again is this just going to be a case of including one thing because it was in the show (i.e. JPB and Omegas with minibeams) while totally ignoring other things from the show (bonehead, non-boresight G'Quan)?

and again I say Mongoose don't take or implement all our suggestions

Yeah, I know, and this isn't intended as a go at anybody in particular, I just find it ridiculous that so much "one shot" stuff from the show is being included while so much other stuff is being ignored or put down to CGI error and the like.

they are just picking and choosing what they want from the show... but it`s all a bit random.

no offence taken just pointing out that the "on screen canon" stuff that does get in should be in there but just because other stuff isn't doesn't mean we didn't try, Mongoose moves in very mysterious ways at times

And often infuriating too

If we went pure canon, we would only have about 15 ships available!!
Yes but the game should be built on top of that pure canon. Not picking and choosing only certain pieces of canon, whilst totally ignoring or completely changing others.

if you exclude fighters and civilian craft it`s 37 actual combat ships... might be a few more but thats all i can remember from all series & movies.

well if we want pure cannon as has been mentioned elswhere the minbari only turn up with sharlins. the Narn get 1 damage point on each ship. WSs are almost unkillable, the vorlons/shadows and ancients become scenario specific and hugely powerful so that you need a massive fleet to fight them :)

So other than the G'Quan's laser, what canon material should be in the game?

you know this seemingly innocent question will merely lead to more issues that people will argue about right?

I wouldnt have a problem with a G'quan forward firing laser TBH as it has less AD than other ships its size. maybe shorten the range a bit, similar to centauri and you have a workable weapon.
whilst we are at it lets make the WS boresight (which I have suggested before) as thats what it is in the show.

I'd support White Star changing to boresight, especially now that the ISA have Patrol and Skirmish level initiative sinks. I'm currently re-watching the series and so far, up to S4 E16, none of the White Stars have fired their beam at any angle other than Boresight.

You also need a "I am in the Credits" ability or trait which means your ship can be damaged but never destroyed.........!?

wasnt marcus in the credits? he died. however sheriden can obviously never die so perhaps a Trait should be:

Plot Ship: This ship is vital to the ongoing plot and whilst can take damage wil always stop just short of being crippled or skeletoned crewed and cannot be damaged any further.

hows about that :D

Now Hiff, you know as well as I do that no matter what is said about anything on the webternet will eventually turn into an argument...

...I think there is some Google's Law or something about it. :)

Cheers,

a special action to target engines/weapons

I remember the starfuries doing that in 'Now for a Word'. Did it happen anywhere else?

it happened with the "Acquire external targets only" order in "All Alone In The Night"

Also in "Endgame" to the Earth destroyers still functional after the "teep bomb"

must have happened a few times more

I have a really weird thought about this whole jump point business pertaining to the scene it was used in the show.

Ok, if it is assumed that the Sharlin scouted the area prior to the engagement (or somebody scouted it), there bye knowing the coordinates that the EA fleet would be led to. It could be represented a different way than having a scout on the table in order to perform the maneuver.

Let the good old Jump Point Bomb be something that is purchased when you are purchasing your fleet. Let's say a Patrol choice or maybe a Skirmish choice. Then before fleets are put on the table you write down the coordinates of the "bomb" and what ship it is assigned too. Of course, that ship would have to have the precise trait in order to open on those coordinates specifically.

Sure, a ship without precise could try it but then you have scatter and not even the ancients know where you will wind up.

Just a thought,

-V
