Traveler mini's ive googled to death and cant find anything

I need to find someone to play against... once I find my models :P

The great thing about infinity is you can play a game with 5-10 models, and it's great fun :D

That does sound good - I hate Warhammer and 40k for that, but I like the games like Blood Bowl and Necromunda, which do have around 10 models per side.

I'll do a little research :)

Well, consider this. A standard game is 300-450 points (I believe).
I just found their army creator, and bashed together what models I remember having in order to work out their point cost.
For 6 models (which isn't all of mine) I got 120 points :D

Not too bad. So, like 15-20 models and we're on something like a platoon-sized skermish? Its a bit more than what I would comfortably put money aside for (how often are these armies updated? GW really p'd me off be redoing their codex books all the time)... but I do like the models.

Oh, and it's not like the full rules, the expansion, the army lists and all that... are completely available online, FOR FREE.... So it's worth trying even if you just use stand ins (free? madness...)

Thats cool, I noticed that the models were sold in euros, whats the average price in British pounds?
Also free online rules - nice! :D

divide the prices by about 0.88 :P

Otherwise... Hmm...
I think the Ariadna starter box (10 models or so) was 25 quid.
The tankbuster with an autocannon was £6? or so?
I think my pair of paratroops was £8 ish...

Btw, yes I collect ariadna :D

The rules are really easy as well.

I would get those minis, but not for playing that game (likewise, I'd get the Rangers from Warmachine for scouts but have no interest in that game otherwise).

The prices arent too shabby when converted. I like a few £11 pairs, but I only need a model for myself and my gf, then a few aliens and people for npcs and beasties :)

Also, are these models pre-painted at all? The scale is perfect for my deckplans but I find some of the colours used a bit garish and bright.

I'm after a more Dead Space and Event Horizon uniform colour scheme - bronzes and rusts for metal, dull colours for material, more natural hair colours)

Nope.
They're all metals, and come completely unpainted.
I'm painting my tank hunters in urban camo chemes, greys and blacks. Line kazaks I will probably paint green, unless I decide to do them all as urban warriors.

There are some models under the Ariadna army that would be perfect for Vargr characters, specifically the Equipe Mirage. There's another figurine of one of the "dog-warriors" characters wearing a kilt, Tearlach McMurrough (on the Mercenaries page). Could make an interesting character for a game.

I like the Metros female for my gf, its even got an Alien Nostromo jumpsuit

Ok, if the online store works nicely for us, then I'm sold on this venture for models for my game (though I'll probably have card stand-ins for the aliens and such).

Those miniatures are huge, you could be better off looking at Black Hat miniature at the Cobalt 1 line and the Ar-men, only problem is pants, but thats better than a giant, IMHO. Somewhere on the net is a review of the M5 blister with a scale picture of the dog warrors, very similar to the Rackham wolven minis in scale and size.

Tbh, I wouldnt use those larger models from Infinity, but a 28mm scale human model with base works perfectly on a graph paper deckplan/map.

I was refering to the Infinity Vargr proxy, I'll try to update my blog with some scale pictures for reference with the Metros and others.

I took a few scale shots:

I’m not real happy with the Governess of Technology mini; they seem to suffer from some proportion mistakes, extreme thinness. This happens when an inexperience sculptor forgets to take in account shrinkage in the mold making process. Easy to hide with picture angles, but really someone should of mention this in the reviews.

The classic scale for Traveller miniatures is 15mm; and, luckily, in the last decade or so, this scale has enjoyed a renaissance of sorts, and there are A LOT of minis available.

First, there is 15mm.co.uk, which provides both the classic Laserburn range AND very good new miniatures, from starfighter crews through shabby mercenaries to armed cultists and various aliens. Highly recommended!

Second, there is GZG (http://shop.groundzerogames.net/), who provide a ton of 15mm minis, vehicles and terrain, including a proper ATV!

Third, there is Khurasan Miniatures (http://khurasanminiatures.tripod.com/adventure.html), who have several very imaginative sculpts, including "Aslan" in Powered Armour.

Fourth, there is RAFM (http://www.rafm.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=RAF&Category_Code=GRAV), which has some of the old "not"-Traveller minis available for purchase, including (but not limited to) Vargr, Aslan and Droyne.

Fifth, there is Stan Johansen Miniatures (http://www.stanjohansenminiatures.com/15mm.htm), with loveable Lizardmen and "Bearmen" who can very easily be painted as Aslan.

And sixth, there is Critical Mass Games (http://www.criticalmassgames.com/) who, in addition to the quasi-Vargar Protolene, have a wide range of suited/power-armoured troops, miscellaneous aliens, walkers and grav vehicles.

Hope this helps!

Seventh there is Rebel Minis who do some good midtech troops, vehicles and monsters (check out the "Space Demons").

Eighth are Artcrime productions - very nice new supplier of CGI-designed and POD produced minis.

Ninth are brigade games - lots of very nice 15mm vehicles and some figures.

tenth, eleventh and so on... Topgun Marketing (Intrepid Grav Tanks), Blue Moon Miniatures, Combat Wombat, Higlander, Peter Pig, STan Johanssen and so on....
