Thinking about organising a tournament

Greg Smith

Mongoose
I'm thinking about organising a A Call to Arms tourney, in August (either Sunday 12th or 19th), so I'm looking for potential interest.

It will be at Boughton House in Northamptonshire, thanks to Da Boss. The house will be open, so you could even bring your respective partners along.

I haven't set a format yet, but it will probably be 3 games, to keep it short. I am considering whether to use a format like Mongoose used at the recent tourney; simply have three individual games - one skirmish, one raid, one battle; or go for the traditional 5-point raid.

Please PM me if you are interested so I can gauge numbers.

Hi Greg,

I am certainly interested in attending. My suggestion would be to retain the 5 point raid format, but as the organiser it's your call,

Kind Regards

Digger.

hmm, 2 and a half hour drive, so depends on the start time, Sunday is better for me by far, but your event :-)

I could probably get there if I was free on the day. You'd do this after 2nd ed comes out, I presume?

Since second edition will be very new at that point, I will keep to first edition. The date in August means that the tea rooms will be open at the house so you will be able to get food.

don't be such a poopyhead! tell you what, if anyone brings a beam team, we jump all over their ships for being cheesy powergamers! ;-)

will that happen to narn batsquads and the various other swarms (10 strikehawks anyone)?
everyone has their own version of whats cheese and what isnt. admittedly 4 prefects, a skirmish ship and 2 corvans is cheese, but then so is 4 drakh light cruiser, a heavy raider and 2 scouts.
normal centauri fleets might be beam team but doesnt mean its cheese.

beam team, bat squad, sagitastic, whatever, I wasn't specifically singling out the beam team, it just happened to be that Lord david is a Centauri player. I would love their to be some anti cheese mechanism in the tourneys, and I don't really think sportsmanship cuts it for this.

How about everyone plays with their fleets in first and third games and random opponents in the second!!!

just a joke!

how about making it a pure league tourney :) just league races and you have to stick to one. although that would probably mean the pak strikehawk fleet from hell instead.

btw I am joking cos dont think many people have a full pure league fleet (although cant wait for Jucaya to add to my abbai).

how about a "cheese" handicap system, you automatically loose X points per game based upon your cheesyness as defined by the event organiser!
