The Warmonger-Class Battle Tender

The Hadrian I designed went from BCr 46.978 to BCr 78.449. That's a 65% bump in price for that +2.
Yeah, but how much would that +2 to everything alter the odds in combat? Could be huge and be worth the price. Could be nothing and be a complete waste. Needs playtested.

Edit: +2 to hit, to jam, to sensor lock, to repair, to pilot, to Leadership, to every part of every task chain, etc... That could make a huge difference.

66.7% of the rolls of 2d give a result in the range 5->9, 25% are in the range 8->9

A universal DM of +2 means you now have a 66.7% chance of rolling 7->11, 38.9% are in the range 8->11

Right. Where we are having trouble understanding is, what is the effect of that +2 across entire combats. How significant is it?

With the smaller crew you can make the rider slightly smaller, saving some cash.

A DM+2 on 2D is massive.

Take a humble laser turret shooting at armour 15:

Average damage is 0.59 with a 6% chance of a crit.

With an additional DM+2 to hit we get:

Average damage is 1.37 with a 23% chance of a crit.
Damage is more than doubled and crit chance is quadrupled.

As far as I have found High Automation is not worth it for warships, but it might be worth it for riders?

With high automation, the 1,200 Hornet-Class Battle Rider I just made was able to drop to 1,000 tons. The standard automation version cost BCr1.249 and the smaller, highly automated version costs BCr1.615. I lost two fusion gun barbettes, but I think that's okay.

MCr366 seems like a deal for a +2 and the benefits it brings.

I'll add the automated version to the zip file when I update it.

Here are the reworked files.

The Warmonger can carry 16 Hadrian-Class Battle Riders, 50 Crossbow-Class Battle Riders, 666 Hornet-Class Battle Riders (or 800 High Automation Hornet-Class Battle Riders if you use them), or a mixture of the three. It also carries 40 400-ton Wasp Gunboats (inspired by the Fiery-Class Gunships) for protection.

The high automation version of the Hornet gets a +2 to all shipboard task rolls which makes it a deadly combatant for its size. It's worth a look on its own and is a steal for the additional MCr366 it adds to the price tag.

The Hadrian has been reworked, so it is a lot tougher and not the default one in High Guard 2022 Update. This one has 30 large meson bays and more weapons. I added Marines to the larger battle riders and a means to deploy them as well.1730591295881.png1730591325536.png1730591356209.png1730591413251.png1730591520169.png1730591550467.png1730591595027.png1730591620163.png

With the high automation version of the new Hornet-Class Battle Rider coming in at 1,000 tons, and only costing MCr366 more than the 1,200-ton version (I lost a pair of fusion barbettes in the downsize), it's a pretty mean customer with that +2 to all shipboard task rolls.
