The Warlock's BIG GUN

being in work, your link is blocked, but if it's the same big bit as on the marathon, I always assumed it was a sensor array?

Yup. Its just a huge sensor boom. There are two domes either side of the base of the boom that are probably the BFG bits.

The 'canon' (no pun intended) answer is that the HPCs are the two small barrels underneath the 'overhang' above both the fighter launch bay and the 'prong' (which is a sensor mast).

The cover of one of AoGs' supplements showed a Warlock firing her HPCs from that location, and that's where the fire appears to be coming from in the video.

However, that comes as a separate piece (the flat bit with the side outriggers and a slender antenna) which many people seem to either misposition or ignore, and was somewhat miscast on my second Warlock mini...

...so wherever, dudes.

Why, if the Warlock has a big chuffing gun strapped to the front of it does its "big laser" actually fire in 2 beams from either side of said big chuffing gun?

that is indeed a sensor array.

there are 2 openings above the hangar bay, those are the particle cannons

The "Probe" on the Prow looks like its the sensor system for the ship, much akin to the Prow-mounted Sonardome for various US Submarines. Probably contains a host of spectral sensors, from EM, Lidar, MSI, etc.

The actual Particle Cannon are, as others have pointed out, mounted above that Prow Boom, in two cannons, on either side of the Launch Bay.

The two barrels above the hangers are the rail guns.

As others have note the HPCs are beside the hangers, with scaffolding running down there sides.

Those were the railguns firing. Note the rings, the universal sign for a railgun firing since Arnold did Eraser.

the pole sticking out above the hangars is a more traditional sensor boom.
In the lower 2 pictures posted above, I mean. The higher pic doesn't show it...

Doubtful... a phased array LPI, LIDAR, or MSI sensor would fit better into the Prow boom.

The "Antennae" is likely related to communications instead of sensing.

Consider the size of the ship.
Furthermore, most of those sensors are going to require multiple arrays anyway, to get the port, starboard, aft, ventral and dorsal arc coverage and minimize interference.

I say that because I see no rotating arrays of any kind anywhere, which suggests multiple fixed emitters...

Just saying that, I imagine that the Warlock's prow sensor boom serves the same purpose a towed-array does for a Sonar system.

And the sensors could easily be inside the Prow; much like the Sonardome of a Nuclear Submarine is inside the Prow area.

Putting them in the Prow would cover the forward arc, and with it extending it out that far means it can see much of the side arcs as well. With the design and architecture of EA vessels, there'd probably be more phased arrays on the port and starboard sides, and aft obviously (Though there are no obvious points where a Phased Array or any other sensing system would be to cover the aft quarter).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phased_Array

Anyway, pure speculation. Likely, the Prow is like that because it looked cool, and looked like it had a purpose.

nope...THIS are the HPC´s. Because the entire large linear particle accelerator fed by a battery of Synchrothrons (accumulation rings) for the HPC´s goes over the entire length of the warlock and it placed in the middle of the hull. The railguns are on this first turret on the upper hull front. On the probe is also an lone barrel railgun.

that would be really huge Railguns with an accelerrator with over 1000 m in lenght. REALLY POWERFUL.... 8) 8) 8) but no,...this are the HPC´s.
