The "Its Arrived!" Thread

Mongoose
I thought it might be nice to have a thread where we can report that we've got our grubby little hands on Mongoose's Traveller. :) No, I haven't, yet. I'm still waiting for Amazon to get their copies and send me one of them.

IAC, when someone *does* get a copy, how about posting here and make us all green with envy by telling us all how great it is.

I got off the phone with Amazon about 20 or so minutes ago and they said it is suppose to arrive at their warehouse this coming Tuesday.

*Excited for my order* :D

hoping to pick a copy up from my flgs (fanboy3 in manchester or failing that travelling man) when i go see iron man next friday or saturday, will report back on my progress then.

I've pre-ordered it, so once it'll be sent out to all of us who've pre-ordered, it'll be the matter of very few weeks for it to get to me by airmail.

Don't nick my copy!

im sure they'll have more than one left, if not well i guess you can get the next one :), im abit miffed that spinward marches isnt out aswell next week but i'll just have to grab it another time.

Hmm. The main rulebook is definitely available ... the "Preorder Now" button on the product page has changed to "Add to Cart" in the last couple of days ...

But The Spinward Marches book is still "Preorder Now" ... when will it arrive? Or has it and the website simply hasn't been changed?

This is important, as I pre-ordered both ... and, I suspect, this means that my copy of Traveller will be delayed until the two can be shipped together ... ghu knows how long in the future after everyone who just ordered the single core rulebook gets theirs ... can we have official word on how shipping of such orders will be handled or, indeed, as to when the Spinward Marches is expected to arrive?

well i checked the main distributer for the uk's site (esdeviumgames) and they only have the main rulebook down for release next week so my guess is it'll turn up the following week, i hope.

Mine arrived exactly 15 minutes ago.

First impressions are positive with minor layout reservations and not blown away by a lot of the art (but not hugely disappointed either).

No time to chat, I've got a book to read.

Game starts in 40 minutes. A quick burst of character generation then a quick and dirty "dungeon bash" on an abandoned starship. Robots (not spotted any rules so I made some up based on what I have seen) and an insane surviving crewman.

This is going to be mostly on the fly.

Incidentally, as part of my ongoing review process I do have issues with the layout. I've spent most of the afternoon creating crib sheets for combat and I know I'll probably need to do the same for world creation and ship building, the tables are way too spread out.

Also the "colour" text boxes at the bottom of the occasional page doesn't really do anything, they look like footnotes and seem to have little to do with the page they're place on.

I'm still loving it though.

It was good but a little late in the day to post details. We had a lot of fun doing the chargen and the actual adventure was good. We kept it simple and didn't run into any issues thanks to the crib sheet for combat.

For the combat bunnies around we didn't dig too deep but it did work. We've still got to try out the trade and starship combat rules though.

Well, as of today (2008/04/28) it's still not showing up as in stock at Amazon, but I've got an "expect time of arrive" listed as April, 30th. I'm guessing that if it's not in stock today, I won't be getting it on the 30th.
