The "Its Arrived!" Thread

Its great, just be careful, we are still finding all those smuggling compartments, and after 200 years you never know what is in them (on crewman," Hey, look what I found . . . the Hope Diamond, a left handed screwdriver, and a bucket of steam. Oh, that one under your feet has the map to the Lost City of Atlantis." reply, "By all the gods of all the people of all the worlds in the Imperium, how many more compartments are there?!? And what else are we going to find?" the other customs inspector, "These is no way I am reporting any of this, no one would believe that a ship of this size has this many smuggling compartments, let alone all the crap that is in them. Come on, let's just back to our ship and report this one as clean and safe. . . . PLEASE?")

lol im liking this ship more and more, in fact u could have entire adventures just in the ship descovering the many hidey holes and compartments :) so tell us whats this ship called?

Well, I spend some time thinking about it and the only thing that fits (Especially with those smuggling compartments) is the Wild Snipe Hunt

I can say I am less than impressed with Australia Post ... the 30/4 should have been delivered yesterday, but, because they use contractors to deliver parcels, not the postie, I've noticed that we almost never (certainly not for many years) get parcel deliveries on Monday ... only Tuesday-Friday. This may be because our contractor delivers them around 6:30 or so in the morning, but it isn't impressive when it means no deliveries on Monday *at all*.

Interesting. Mine arrived on Monday, and would have had to undergo the extra leg from Sydney to Melbourne to boot (unless they came in through Melbourne for some reason, which would explain the one day delay on yours).

Edit: Actually, mine was postmarked 25 Apr, so it was actually the better part of a week slower than yours.

I got mine yesterday. I would have gotten it saturday but I wasn't home when the postman came so I had to pick it up from the post office across the street on monday.

It's looking nice. There's a few things in there I have issues with but that's true of every edition of Traveller, truth be told.

The paper certainly isn't one of them. It's white, the printing is crisp on it (rather than being blurred from ink having spread into surrounding areas as it might on poor-quality paper) and it's not glossy at all. (The only thing good about glossy paper is that it's good for color printing)

I've some reservations about character creation but nothing that can't be dealt with with a half dozen houserules or so.

So far, I feel this is actually the overall best version of Traveller yet (to my considerable surprise). It contains rules that will more or less work for absolutely everything that I'm likely to need organized logically and gathered into a single volume.

It's not a game for RPG newbies, though. It doesn't have a "What is roleplaying" chapter nor any kind of "How to referee" chapter. If you haven't done this before, you're on your own.

Whoooo Hoooo ! Just got it.

Looks great......HOODY HOO ! I got credited in "Special thanks !"

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!

....yeah, still bouncing off the walls about that....... :D :D :D :D :D :D

........Thanks, Gar !

Got mine yesterday. Not sure when I'll get chance to start reading it at the moment...let alone playing it. Hopefully quite soon.

So, any talented people going to be writing their own adventures that they might like to share with the rst of us? 8)

Mine arrived on Tuesday, on the one day of the week I was not at home. So I couldn't pick it up from the parcel office until Wednesday night.

Got it now though.

I saw one at my FLGS on Monday, looks pretty good. I'll probably pick one up.

Not sure my group will switch from the many D20 games we play to a d6 game.

Finally....IT IS MINE!!

Of course, the extreme amusement on the face of a member of the United States Marine Corps when I was helping a friend roll up a character and told him he'd been promoted to "Lance Sergeant" drew some snickers...(Ranks and Benefits table, page 20..pretty sure this is supposed to be "Lance Corporal")..but all in all people at the store seemed interested as I showed the game around and I may have sold a couple more copies for Mongoose :)

(and thanks to a distributor named Premeire that got the thing to me)

Lance Sergeant is a British army rank that still exists in some regiments.

It is a 'not quite a sergeant' rank that is the equivalent of a corporal with the role of 'acting sergeant' - but who knows what it exactly represents in the far future...

... That's what MGT reminds me of! WEG's D6 system!

Seriously, the look of the layout is very similar to d6-SW 2e...

I suspect that holds a lot to do with it.

And to the newer, D6 Space rules (not that it seems to have helped WEG... Maybe it bodes better for MG?) as well.

ah...."criticism" withdrawn, then. Doesn't hurt for the Imperium to follow a rank structure other than U.S. or have a combination thereof :)

First impressions... wow, this looks really good! With all the hype, my expectations were set pretty high, and so far, I have to admit I'm impressed. Bravo!

And when I got home with my first grade son, I had him make an attempt at rolling up a character! We only got as far as his stats, and then Scooby Doo came on and he asked if we could continue later. He rolled a 4 for his SOC, and he asked, "can I re-roll that?" Funny.
