Suggestions welcome

Hi everyone, I'm rather new to the game, but have played ACTA. I've started collection several fleets, (Italian, French and Japanese).
Can someone give me some suggestions of ships to have in my fleets?

My Italian fleet consists of :-
2x Navigatori destroyers
4x Marcello subs
2x Zara cruisers
1x Aquila
1x Caio Duilio battleship

I had thought about using the Navigatori destroyers as an escort for the Aquila but after looking at their stats don't think that they would be up to the job if anything big went after the carrier. Another thought I had was to keep the Aquila in the middle of the four Marcello subs, (keeping them hidden until someone decided to come and play with my carrier. Having not played the game yet I'm not sure if this would actually work.
Any suggestions will be welcome

My advice would be to just keep the carrier well behind a screen of your main fleet. Perhaps leave one destroyer behind to escort incase of lurking submarines.

You want your submarines 'up front' and stalking your enemy's capital ships and your destroyers ready to guard yours from your enemy's subs. Also to make torpedo runs when they get close enough.

Just play a few games and you'll soon pick up a style of your own.

I find that the Italian Destroyers are not up to par with British Destroyers for anti air, but they are not designed to stop air planes but to hunt subs and hit quick then run. Most of the Italian fleet is fine depending on your tactics. I have seen the Italians win as many battles as they have lost in our games VS the British. My basic fleet usaully consist of a Battle ship supported by Heavy cruiser then 2 light cruisers and 4 Destroyers.
My Fleet so far. Still trying to get some support ships, Torpedo boats and submarine chasers.

Can I ask where the aircraft and stands came from?

The ships and planes are Wizards of the Coast, War at Sea figures. I like the larger scale figures for ship gaming.

I think my biggest problem is that I'm comparing them to the Japanese fleet, which my brother will be commanding, and finding they are just aren't on the same level. Think what I need to do is to concentrate on my fleet and what I'm going to do with and forget about his fleet for the most part.
