Stygian Giant Kings?

Vortigern

Banded Mongoose
Is there anywhere one can find more detail/elaboration concerning the pre-modern stygian race the stygian and acheronian nobility seem to be descended from?

What would be the best way to reflect an abundance of this strain of descent in a given individual?

I was looking at the 'Giant-Blooded' feat in the bestiary, however this appears to be designed purely with frost giants in mind, and the ability modifiers don't seem well suited to my view of the stygian style giant-kings.

I was considering using the 'Spawn of Dagoth Hill' with perhaps adding something concerning size/height, but am uncertain... especially while I'm wondering if there is anything further to read on the subject that might change my view.

I'm less concerned with the crunchy bits Vortigern is seeking, but would love to know more history and other "fluff" for the giant kings. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.

As an aside, I've toyed with the idea of basing my Stygian giant kings on Ann Rice's Taltos.

I would base it on the Acheronian race template from Signs and Portents.

Roy Thomas did a Conan comic story where Conan and Belit encounter an undead Giant King.

At one time, I had considered making a racial template for them, but wasn't sure if there was any need for it.

I'd be just as interested in the fluffy bits and the cruncy ones. All things Stygian seem to find favor with my imagination. The taltos wouldn't be a bad point to start from for them, but then... I don't have any idea how much or little material there already is in the canon.

So, they're not actually that giant then? How tall would they be?

I collected a bunch of miniature plastic models of Indian, Egyptian, and Buddhist gods that would stand 10-14' tall in scale with regular minis. I thought of maybe using them as resurrected giant kings in some future campaign, but wondered if they were too giant.

I think they were tall for the time, that is, approaching 7 feet and a bit over.

In case anyone is interested the book "Hyborian Age Heresies" (available from Lulu) has a great essay on the giant kings, their origin and related races.

I'd just use the Acheronian template - or for a more exotic touch, Spawn of the Dagoth Hill. Just remove outsider part and perhaps penalty to Con as well.

Ok, I understand about the acheronian race in the S&P #6 but it was not reprinted in the compendium. So how are we to use it. It's really frustrating expecially in the Stygian book because they use the acheronian race. :x

Damn, I have the Scrolls of Skelos.

Yes, it's in secrets, in the creature section.

Oh, and I note that I found the Skelos cult write-up that Vincent made for me way back when in the back, under the cult section. Nice to have that official.

You can download the acheronian's article from S&P from this link:
