I'm going to use the first pic as visual evidence, that you CAN use a docked launch's thrusters to increase your velocity in a type K.

Well, yes. It won't help much, but it contributes non-zero.

Multiply the thrust by the smallcraft's tonnage, then divide by the larger ship's tonnage (combined tonnage, if the smallcraft is not docked inside the larger ship). That's how much it adds. In most cases this will be less than 1G, and thus below the level of abstraction the rules are at.

True. Getting .1G added to your speed doesn't work in the game since all the tables and calculations are on whole numbers. Though if someone is calculating actual thrust for longer distances it would shave some time off your trip. Too much effort to min/max things (though an enterprising set of players might propose such a thing to run away from a ship in a stern chase - all other things being equal). Silly players!
 
There are technological level performance limitations.

You can, always, dive into a gravity well to increase acceleration beyond manufactured limits.
