Some issues with Cults of Glorantha Volume 1

Hi All,

I have been in correspondence off group with Matthew Sprange and he assures me that Mongoose has made a number of moves to improve the overall quality of its Glorantha products, in relation to Gloranthan accuracy, approval proceedures with Issaries and editting. This heartens me personally. I will not disclose the full content of those discussions, but Matthew's closing lines I hope reassures us a little...

In summary, we are sorry there are those who do not agree with the direction
some of our books go in. However, to a degree, it is inevitable. Our goal
is to keep aiming for the moon, to make each book better than the one
before. At the end of the day, that is all any of us can do!

I hope that Mongoose does produce great works, not that we are putting ANY PRESSURE on the author of Zistorwal LOL!

Cheers Simon

Heh! That's exactly what I was thinking earlier!

No pressure, Aaron. Just go for it! :D

Do any of the regulars on this board live anywhere near Liverpool?

Now as I have full faith DBC's ability, and based on his participation on these boards expect to be pretty happy with his work.

As he is slated in as the author for most of the upcoming RQ releases, I think we should still be prepared in case Magic of Glorantha sucks. The prudent thing to do would be to have our lynch mob organized ahead of time.

Unfortunately I am on the other side of the Atlantic, so can't participate myself.

EDIT: Doh! forgot the :) - hate to have this post taken as serious.

I'm about an hour from Liverpool...

However, DBC could floor me with a LOOK.

And his Chaos Features wouldn't even come into it.

:D

That, my freind, is why we have lynch mobs.

No one is asking you to take him alone.

Can we have some indication when / if there is an imminent Errata coming up for CoG1? I'm very curious to see what Divine spells cults like Humakt actually do have in the 2nd Age.

Thanks

DBC is a wimp.

But, come on, you live an hour from me?

Why aren't we gaming together, you ass?

Don't debase yourself with smileys. We all know what ya meant.

However, I can't quiiiiite remember, but didn't I say I'd eat my Stormtrooper mug if Magic sucked? That said, I accept that a lynch mob would be more deserved.

Re: The troll appearance issue. This is not going to change - for Mongoose RuneQuest, trolls appear in the manner they are presented in our books. We understand that some people don't like them - hell, we'd love to please everyone all the time! - but we're not changing our position.

Ian

Madness!

The customer and Gloranthan tradition are wrong, the management is right, and the arbitary bad decision must stay. It's a guestion of authority afterall.

What sort of business sense does that make???

I'm shocked :(

Cool. Get me a team. I'm good with teams.

There is no 'i' in 'team'.

In other words, it's not my fault.

Nope. It's an industry thing. Poor sales throughout the industry necessitated this change to slimmer hardbacks for all the big companies.

It's really that simple. If you still want to see hidden sneakiness in there, that's fine. But I've told you the truth and it's a well-known industry trend now.

While the size of the books is annoying, it's the lack of quality control that really sucks. I'm quite content to pay more and wait another month for a useful book. As it is, I have to pay in time to work out all the mistakes and nut out corrections before they're usable.

But there is a 'me' in team.

Cool, well, if you're up for it, you're in.

PS I don't mean to go 'at' you, or drop you to the 'mat', but there is also 'tea' and 'meat', so our mob won't go hungry or thirsty. We'll ignore the 'tame' bit for now. Maybe it just means our attack dogs like us. Rest assured tho, that we can all be 'mate's. :D

PPS 'etam'? 'meta'? We'll keep those in reserve. For the sake of the team.

who cares what the god damn troll looks like.
His mother... perhaps...
But, why fix something that was never broken...

Any chance we could have the corrected list of what Divine spells should be associated to each of the Gods...
Should Chalana Arroy have Resurrect
Should Humakt have True Sword (Its mentioned as being available at shrines after all).
And any other useful information that may have been cut and discarded from the text that is key for playing the relevant cults.

I live in London which, buy US standards, is close to Liverpool.

However, there should be a quid pro quo here; if MoG doesn't suck, the lynch mob must instead go round to give DBC tea and fruitcake. :D

Better still we could all send him a tea-bag through the post :)
