So what 2nd Edition changes do we know of so far?

My guess is the dual jump drive will let the blue stars (and who knows, white stars may get them too) to open a jump point twice in a scenario, since 2E is changing jump engines to one use per scenario.
Doesn't this go against canon quite heavily? Ships jump in, attack and jump out again.

Eg: Gorash 7 battle, the G'Quans enter via JP's, get ambushed by the Shadows, and open JPs to try to escape.

I think the 3 turns to recharge the jump engines is a good representation of canon. Once per game is not realistic.

i have to agree, the 3 turn mechanic has been sufishent to prevent me from opening more than one JP with a single ship (i may have done it once when a ship JP bombed on the first turn and then opened a point to escape through somwhere around the 5th or 6th turn). if anything i'd prefer a longer delay to disalowing multiple uses all together. but it's far from my bigest concern regarding 2nd eddition

I don't think they should allow one jump per ship either. Either increase the delay or make the ship have to suffer the same restrictions as for opening a point for an extra turn while they divert power or something if they want to restrict it further.

Those rules aren't neccesarily the final ones anyway, we'll just have to trust the Mongoose team to work out something appropriate.

Masters of Destruction is not a trait, its a racial special rule, the only TRAIT I can think of that some Dilgar ships/weapons get is Virus Bombs.

I don't know about you but trusting someone to fix something they created that has caused so much unrest to start with just doesn't make sense to me. Did they not give it their best shot the first time? I'm just saying that their is a reason when stuff divides folks so cleanly (and jbp has been one of those things) I tend to want a lot more opinions into the mix before we settle for the status quo or the ideas of the folks who created the status quo.

That said the idea of only once per scenario does have issues for me as far as fluff goes (episodes noted by others above). A several turn delay is fine, mostly they are trying to make the tactic of keeping small ships in hyper doing bombing runs untenable. It was widely reported as the cheesiest of the jbp tactics in theory. I think that requires a much more serious rethink of jbp rather than jump point mechanics...but I can see where you would think changing one would fix the other.

Allowing one activation of the jump engines from hyperspace to realspace and an additional one from realspace to hyperspace, would be fine for me.

I much prefer a recharge delay. Of course I'd also toy around with a variable recharge rate
Jump Engine: 4-5 turns
Advanced Jump Engine: 3-4 turns
Ancient/V/S: 2 Turns
