There are the obviously illegal goods (#61-#66) and the contraband goods which depend on a) the government type and b) the law level of a system. The Government gives us the type of goods which are contraband, the Law Level gives us the degree of illegality.
There are 5 types of contraband: weapons, drugs, information, technology, travelling and psionics.
Unfortunately, I’m missing some reference as to which trade goods fall into these contraband categories.
Thus, I’ve come up with the following list.
#11 Technology (purchased goods are Tech 4-10)
#12 Technology (purchased goods are Tech 4-10)
#21 Technology (purchased goods are Tech 11-15)
#21 Information (if it is actually software)
#22 Technology (purchased goods are Tech 11-15)
#23 Technology (purchased goods are Tech 11-15)
#24 Weapons (need to determine what kind of weapons to determine whether it’s contraband or not)
#25 Technology (purchased goods are Tech 11-15)
#26 Drugs (Contraband at Law Level A+)
#32 Technology (purchased goods are Tech 12-15)
#36 Drugs (trade goods are equivalent to Law Levels 7-9; only if it’s actually not equipment but medicine. If you have determined what it actually is, you can calculate the contraband sell value)
#42 Drugs (trade goods are equivalent to Law Level 4-8. If you have determined what it actually is, you can calculate the contraband sell value)
#46 Technology (purchased goods are Tech 11-15)
#46 Information (Contraband Law Level 5+, i.e. the Robots have Expert-Software)
#51 Drugs (Contraband Law Level A+)
#56 Technology (purchased goods are Tech 4-10)
Now, if you purchase the trade goods above, you need to determine more thoroughly what it actually is in order to be able to calculate the Sell DM.
Furthermore, as regards “Technology” as contraband, I have included a “TL of trade goods must be higher than the TL of the system to be considered contraband”. The Sell DM calculates correspondingly.
I also demand a check-roll (2d6, if higher than Law Level of system, nothing happens, otherwise “Check”) on “first approach” and when looking for a black market buyer/supplier (p. 174).
What do you think ? Is this okay ?
