Sleeping in Light live battle reports

To be honest fella, I think that our ISA civil war was probably my favourite game of the weekend...

Game one vs Dralafi (Andreas)

This battle had an Asteroid field, surrounded by a Dust cloud, dominating virtually the entire centre portion of the board. I was worried that the terrain would help Dralafi's Minbari with their Stealth, but I had such ridiculous good fortune with stealth rolls - including a +20" check with my Vree torpedo squadron in the 1st turn - that it quickly became embarrassing how often things went my way! As is usual, my good luck was balanced by the complete absence of luck for my opponent... many, many bulkhead hits!
Andreas took it all with good humour, and after his fleet was reduced to a solitary Leshath, he opted to depart.
This left me free to reinforce Clanger against Greg's Gaim, just in time to beam his fleeing queen into oblivion - Greg was not a happy bunny

Game two against Low-Roller (Lee)

I was on the same table, but this time there was a Vorlon cruiser parked in the terrain, needing to be rescued. Lee quickly took up position next to the cruiser with both his Raid level Frigates, and parked them there...
I offered up my White Star in an attempt to coax one or both from their "hiding" place, but he was far too canny a player to fall for such an obvious ploy!
So, parking my Vree torpedo saucers at 19" from the closest Frigate, I began bombardment...
Unfortunately, when I tried to add the White Star's guns to the mix, the two Frigates beamed it back to the one pretty damn quick! Even though one of the Frigates had taken a fair bit of punishment from the Vree, it still looked like Lee was going to win this one... Then Clanger arrived with his Drakh battle ship and turned the needle back towards the Chaos side, finishing off the damaged Frigate and distracting Lee away from my fragile saucers.
However, the needle had decided to continue its movement, and a huge beam hit from the Frigate resulted in 4 criticals - the first being a 6/6  and the Drakh ship was neatly bisected!
With no more ships being killed this battle, and Lee holding the centre, the game ended in a satisfying draw... Lee is always good fun, and I thoroughly enjoyed the rollercoaster ride of uncertainty that this game threw at us :D

Game 3 vs ShutUpHippie (Andy)

Okay, not the most fun game this one! With Chaos riding roughshod over the forces of Order in the first two games, Matt had a little idea to "even" things up...
With my two Torpedo saucers and a Vree Raid saucer Ambushing Andy's Psi-Corps, all I had to do was fight past his Fighter Carrier and Hunter, then kill his Interceptor laden Marathon!!!
Needless to say, this was my only defeat of the weekend, but I guess I should've used the Digger tactic of kill an escort ship then leave, but ah well...

Game 4 vs Darkstar (Ben)

With one Raid point being allowed to start on the table, Ben chose a couple of Transports, I chose my two Torpedo saucers...
Ben started by rushing across the table, straight into the combined fire of both CAF'd saucers - one of which had additional missiles due to a refit
Ben was heard to exclaim "They are seriously broken" about the Vree, after one of his Transports disappeared, and I had to show him the stats just to convince him that I wasn't making them up!
The scenario meant that ships would only appear on a 6, and Ben managed to get ships on in time to have the Vree shoot at them... good times (well, for me anyway).
I never did get all my forces onto the table - the last White Star (with a Stealth breaker refit) never got on, and even when Ben was reinforced by Dralafi's Sharlin... oh yes SHARLIN, it was still too late for the Vorlon! :D

Game 5 - Rematch vs Ben!

I started with 5 Raid in the middle of the board (4 WS Scouts and 2 Vree torpedo saucers) Ben had a Vorlon Heavy Cruiser on one side and the rest of his fleet on the other - 2 Raid Frigates, 2 Transports and a dozen fighters.
I decided that the War ship was the easier option and sent my forces towards it with Blast Doors firmly Closed!
Ben All Stopped his Cruiser instead of trying to reduce the gap between his ships, this suited my plan of dealing with one side before the other arrived to help. Good fortune was with the White star that Ben selected as his victim, the first turn of shooting greatly damaged it but took no other toll. My Vree's firing did a bit, but my WS squadron was yet to get into range...
I won Initiative in the next turn and powered the White Stars into weapon range... the combined fire did a huge chunk of damage, and reduced his main gun by a couple of AD. This helped reduce the hits on the damaged WS, and good dodging meant that only a couple of points of damage was inflicted - Ben was flabbergasted that two lots of fire from a Quad damage beam had failed to claim even one victim!
He did eventuall kill off the resilient ISA ship, but the combined fire from the remaining 3 was sufficient to kill the mighty Warship. The next couple of turns consisted of me staying away from the bulk of Ben's forces, and when my reinforcements arrived in Turn 5, it was all over bar the shouting!

Game 6 vs LBH (Pete)

ISA civil war! My Carrier, 4 WS Scouts and Vree allies vs LBH's Tara'Lin, 4 WS and 2 WS II
I had my Torpedo Saucers in a squadron, all 4 WS in a squadron and the remaining 2 ships floating alone. LBH had three squadrons of 2 WS apiece and the Tara'Lin dominating his centre.
This was my favourite game of the day, with White Stars chasing each other around the board and the two Warships plugging away at each other.
As has been said, this game went to VP's and even though it was a big VP win for me, it remained a close thing up to the last turn.

Last Game - Order vs Chaos
Bit of an odd one this, Triggy left Burger (with Shadow Stalker) and myself (with WS Carrier) to contend with Dralafi (Sharlin) and Andy (Marathon). It was a bit hide and seek for the first couple of turns, and we had people jumping in and out all game...
As has been said, Chaos took the day, my Carrier taking some damage, but I had all sorts of Order ships going up like firecrackers all around me...
Burger killed a Sharlin, Diesel killed a Sharkaan, I finished Andy's Marathon and LBH's Tara'Lin amongst others.

All in all a good weekend, and hopefully, Lee will get some of the plans we discussed underway soon...

Agreed, though my 12 hit Beam critgasm in the final game was quite satisfying

Other way round my friend, 4 WS-2, 2 WS-1 (1 is the Scout) and the Tara'Lin.

And fun it was, with movie and Whedon quotes flying across the table at every turn
