I took my Vree and despite having a big road diversion to get to Swindon, made it comfortably and had a number of great games to look forward to. My fleet was pretty much an all-round fleet without the modern Vree trend of taking a bombardment force, I stuck to the mid-range firepower goodness they can bring.
My fleet:
1 x Z'Takk, 1 x Xonn, 1 x Xill, 2 x Vaarl, 2 x Xixx, 1 x Xeel (yes, this isn't even an optimal FAP breakdown, I could have had bigger ships!)
Game 1 vs Gambit (Marc)
Space Superiority
Marc was a little light on ships and as a Minbari player, once I'd taken down one ship, the rest of my fleet mopped up pretty quickly. This allowed my fleet to reinforce other tables and Chaos wrapped the games up quite quickly.
Game 2 vs Greg Smith (Greg)
Rescue
Greg's Gaim took out my two ships that weren't scouts in his first real round of shooting by a vital systems crit taking out all weapons. I hung on in there to prevent Greg giving any reinforcements and got two battle PL ships coming in to support. Greg played amazingly and just managed to knock the last damage point off of Richard's Gaim queen to claim a hard-earned victory.
Game 3 vs Low Roller 1-1 (Lee)
Convoy Duty
Great game here. Lee's Vorlons slowly marched up the battlefield in a tactical duel that saw my two Xixx's and Tzymm fighters whittling his Transports. When the crunch came, I'd just done enough damage to finish off a Transport, force Lee onto the offensive and I wrapped up the win with a ship exchange before bugging out before the "convoy" left.
Game 4 vs Chandler (Simon)
Towering Inferno
We both had a raid FAP on the table at the start and I took his out before either of us got reinforcements. We played on regardless and I did win due to having more ships and making this pay with manoeuvring but the game was already over.
Game 5 vs Gambit (Marc)
On the Back Foot
I set up to take on one half of Marc's fleet before my reserves arrived. I managed to take out the Troligan fairly quickly and his Sharkaan only killed two Skirmish ships on the way in as I kept out of range where possible. Unfortunately for him there was one planet on the table and that allowed me to hide behind it, letting my reinforcements arrive just as the Sharkaan got to my fleet. My "Basestar" arrived and although I tried to decrew him by Vree crew extraction, he tried to wiggle free and despite killing two more of my ships (I failed a lot of stealth rolls!), eventually I passed a stealth roll and destroyed the Minbari forces.
Game 6 vs Dralafi (Andreas)
Call to Arms
Probably the best game of the weekend (most people have said this as we got to take our whole fleets in a standard engagement), with loads of tactical ploys resulting in a very tight game. Andreas's Minbari had the range on me and took out a couple of small ships as I dove for the cover of asteroids/dust cloud in the middle of the board. We played a bit of cat and mouse as we killed a few ships each and the game came down to our war PL ship a side and a couple of supporting ships. I realised that the Sharlin (with triple damage front guns) could just drift into the asteroids so on the turn I gained initiative, took a gamble and rushed the Sharlin. Andreas pulled off a great manoeuvre and used a Torotha to shield the Sharlin and give him a free shot back. However, he didn't count on me annihilating the Torotha and getting a fluke critical wiping out his front arc! I finished off the Sharlin quickly then and although he ran my Z'Takk close chasing it round the board, it was always unlikely he could finish if off in time with a Teshlan and Leshath.
Game 7 vs all
Free for All
I think the forces of Order out-thought themselves on this one. Chaos manoeuvred their generally shorter-ranged ships into jumping in on the enemy and after getting one ship up on each of the two tables the end result was pretty inevitable.
I had a good weekend although I do feel that the reinforcements and some of the scenarios led to less than balanced games, most of it was good fun.
I ended up with the best record (six wins and one defeat against Ken's five wins, one draw and one defeat), just pipping Ken to another title

Best of all, as part of the big B5 giveaway prize draw at the end, I drew possible the best prize of all (excluding Claudia!) in a framed technical Starfury display.
Thanks everyone for making it such a good weekend and I hope that plans to have a gettogether every so often come to fruition!
