shooting or dogfighting?

Hello iv another question to ask, which does a fighter do first, shoot or dogfight.
eg,my ea fighters start a dogfight with a group of vorlon fighters, but there are still some vorlon fighters in the area not involved in the dogfight.
How do you resolve it ,do fighters do there shooting first at any viable targets?and then resolve dogfights,or do you dogfight and then do the shooting as this would allow the vorlons to destroy the ea if the ea won the dogfight.

I hope this makes sense.

I just want to know which happens first, fighters shooting or fighters dogfighting .

This comes up periodically...would like an official anwser too.

If a fighter is in support, is not engaged, its supported ship is not engaged may it fire at another target in range?

If a fighter is engaged in a dogfight but wins in the enemies fighter activation, may it then activate in it's players activation and fire?

The original question, if a fighter is in a dogfight and wins, is it then eligible to be fired on by nearby fighters and/or ships in subsequent activations.

A fighter is open season as soon as the dogfight ends - it can be fired at, but it can also fire if it's not acted yet.

For example, you have a thunderbolt in dogfight with a Frazi. If the Narn player wins initiative, and makes his dogfight roll, but you win, your thunderbolt is free to fire on any targets in range when you fire your fighters, but similarly may be fired on by othe rNarn fighters in range if they'd yet to fire.

That was how we ruled given the rules as written, but several of the playtest folks have given the impression that we were ruling it wrong. I wanted to get an official answer so it was less a point of discussion.
