(Traveller) BOUNTY HUNTER is available right now!

Stunners are already available in the core book and CSC?

Along with foam and net ammo.

Tranq rounds for snub weapons are in… Shadows of Sindal, I believe. Would be great to see a general tranq option though.

I tried to buy this on the Mongoose site. Put the hardback in my cart, and was headed to checkout when I realized I was logged in as 'guest'. I tried to log into my account and had no end of trouble -- failed password, endless CapCha hell, etc. Requested a password reset several times -- never got an email. Tried to contact customer service -- no reply.

I guess I won't buy it.

Most people have gone home for the evening :)

This is likely to be a gateway wobble. Give it 20 minutes and try again, and you should be good. If you still have issues, drop me a line at msprange@mongoosepublishing.com and I'll see what can be done!

There's a bounty hunter career, with three sub-careers. Tech-ops, fixer and hunter,

I've finally finished my tweaking of the careers, now doing up d66 events for each of them... plan on finally getting this on the table this weekend and see how it works now I'm at a pause point in the Naval Campaign I've been running.

I did go ahead and combine fixer and tech ops and going with split the book hunter sub-career 2 types of hunters. A far cry from the 8 various types that were in the Manhunter book but sort of felt natural for having two types of hunter rather than just one. I did up a 'Man' Hunter and a 'Repo' Hunter which would have very different 'skill' sets. Generally breaking into easy natural 'criminal' and 'civil' types of bounties.

Made it that the Ops (the new combined 3rd career) was the mandatory entry sub-career for those young fresh 18 year old entering the Bounty Hunter career. Any organization likely isn't tossing off some teenage kid out to chase bounties without paying their dues, learning the trade, and that starts with the basics like learning surveilence, the nuances of the law and boring things like that. Made it where starting at 2nd term a new character can attempt to roll into one of the two Hunter sub-careers. Naturally revised all the skills and training, Ranks and bonuses (made them like the military more like in how a high rank gets you high social, a high rank with a Bounty Hunter will get you higher REP without the whims of good event DR's increased your rep during Character Creation. Also tweaked the Mustering Out Table, on the top end. Going solo, becoming a Bounty Hunting Traveller after Character Creation would be an expensive proposition and those 7 and 8 results should be high end rewards after spending so many years, surviving and prospering as a 'rank and file' Guild or Corporation Bounty Hunter. The retirement benefits, if you survive and succeed for 20 something years, should be substantial.

Now working up the d66 events which I love from TPP additions to Traveller, make for more unique and varied events to create more interesting character back story, and largely using the events charts Manhunter book as a guide but will need to tweak those to include REP changes for characters as we build them through Character Creation to becoming the Travellers we will play.

Fun stuff... really scratching the creative itch. I can't wait to start rolling up, game within a game, Bounty Hunting characters. Likely will become the basis of a new campaign. See who can make it through to retirement with a stable of contacts of those in their 'class' that fell by the wayside and didn't survive to 'retirement'

I've been creating a bounty hunt scenario. I need to run to see if it works. I've been creating the organisms the Travellers are likely to come across when they try to detain the mark.

A little shoutout to the stylistically inclined bounty hunters out there!

Great Rift Adventure 1: Islands in the Rift features a Laser Revolver - Sleek and good looking, with an impressive statline to boot! Cartridge-loaded for that authentic Wild West feel - with a sci-fi twist!

The laser pen from the same book could come in handy too from time to time…

Hello, so I got the book, and I have some notes, but I would like to preface, this is perhaps one of the stronger new books mongoose has released in a while, I haven’t been able to read the whole thing so if I missed something ignore it.

First, the career is great, but, I think it’s a mistake to not include melee in the service skills or as make it easier to get, I personally imagine bounty hunters will be using hand to hand rather alot to subdue targets, I would look into making that easier to gain for such an active profession.

Second I feel it’s a missed opportunity to add in repossession of property as bounty targets, “man-hunting” is the romance but ship trackers and cargo chasers have been fairly left out in this book and they have their own challenges that encourage people to fufill the chase part of this premise

Next, we have the small issue of said chase, there have been, several instances where I have been part of discussions in a certain place, where the subject of bounty hunting has come up, traveller isn’t set up for the romance of Boba or Djinn. While you have accommodated the chase, there is still little incentive to actually do it in universe, I think addressing the “just sit in the starport bar till the target shows up” strategy is probably a good idea. Since it is actually the best way to catch a lot of these criminals once they show up, cause all you need is a big list of bounty’s and a starport, or traffic controller to message you that it’s go time and there you go, you wait at the docking bay and grab them when they disembark.

Lastly bounty race, where they are all chasing the same target, winner is the one that hands the target over alive, rewards are rep and nothing else.
So upon reflection and playing out a char creation, I think I’d stand by with my opinion on melee, with a small edit, make it a choice between melee or gun combat, this isn’t unknown in careers there are examples with some such as army asking to choose between drive and vaccsuit, so I’d address the issue that way.

After reading more of the book, my second point had already been address so I do agree with those that had read more than me at the time so, that’s good. And the pacing issue is easily resolved with some tweeking on the dms part.

It suits my purproses to have no cooperative agencies. The IMJ deals with Imperial crimes and the others are the various worlds' business. They mostly have to let the ones who got away go, but for important ones (to them) they have to send bounty hunters.

Any adventures I the book or slated one-shots doable in a session or is it more like Strontium Dog with just a vague idea? SD was one of my fav Mongoose Products.
