Roll20 Compendium

My pleasure, as the transcriber and creator of the Traveller products on Roll20 feel free to fire through any questions or DM me 👍

Can we load books we've purchased offline into Roll20 or do you need to purchase new copies of them on the Roll20 marketplace?

Cory answered this, but I’ll toss in my but too. Yes. Even though you have PDFs, you would need to buy them on Roll20 to get the interactive stuff. I have both where available, though there are a few I still need to get.

Now I have a couple of compendia, is there a way of filtering the equipment - eg by TL range or keyword. Or sorting - by eg damage?

Hi Resslyn,

I don’t think so I’m afraid… The search, as far as I know scans titles and headers within the compendium pages…

For Traveller I do add TL to the item names I think to allow for items which have different versions by TL e.g. Vacc Suits etc.

The ‘data’ pages for items, eg those that can be drag’n’dropped into the character sheet are made up of a series of consistent attributes so they would be amenable to the sort of search you mention, basically a database-like query: select where TL<=8 and Type=‘Survival’ or whatever…but alas that is not a thing…

I’ll think further and do some experiments but I’m not confident…

Link to the Roll20 Forum thread below. One user logs in on each monitor as a work around.

As a GM I have found logging into one monitor as GM and one as a player is useful if you are hiding things or using Fog of War. That way you also get to see what your players see.

Hey Uqbarian,

It is on the radar, there’s a few in the pipe waiting for release (https://roll20.net/compendium/traveller/BookIndex ‘Coming Soon’)…

The problem is, as I’ve found with Aliens of Charted Space Vol 1/2, that old-style books don’t play nicely with my automated transcription system, particularly that tables don’t transcribe properly which makes it a massive manual task…

I imagine Drinax is more text-based though so I’ll take a look, probably in the new year as I’ve recently finished my 20th compendium 😀🎺🥳

Stay tuned for further news, now you’ve mentioned it I feel compelled to check! (Damn you brain! ;-)

I would probably like to wait until the POD Anniversary edition comes out. Even if it is a way away.
