Cosmic Mongoose
hey guys, news on planet mongoose:

http://blog.mongoosepublishing.co.uk/

they have joined rebellion group:
http://www.rebellion.co.uk/

VERY interesting. Does this mean mini games will be returning sooner or will there simply be an influx of new RPG settings?

It means there will be _all_ sorts of new projects going on. . .

Sounds good :)

Will this mean (hopefully) a return to colour printing of books as I presume Rebellion has good contacts/ place to source for this given 2000AD etc? :)

So when do we get more details on some "possible" project ideas? :D

Colour is always on the cards - just needs the right project!

What exactly is a sister company?
Just a PR way of saying Mongoose has been purchased?

Rebellion and Mongoose are both privately owned companies, so forgive me for not going into details. However, there have been shares and capital floating around - but I still boss :) It is more about the synergy (there is a PR term for you!) between the two companies (and other companies within the group), in terms of both market and efficiency.

For example, Rebellion has a centralised accounts structure that takes care of all the day to day admin that company accounts need. We have the option of passing that admin onto the Group as a whole (you can guess what we are choosing to do!). This frees up an enormous amount of man hours in Mongoose.

Okay, that is a Big Deal for us, but not too exciting for you. We have much freer access to IPs held by Rebellion (such as the 2000AD lines). We can use the Group's muscle to negotiate better prices with suppliers. We are looking at moving premises to accomodate. . . certain plans - a dedicated events area will be part of that. We also have easier access to other markets, such as comics, magazines, novels, and computer games (though the latter is a level of magnitude above everything else - there is unlikely to be an Apocalypse-Z console game!).

It will take time to integrate everything that is currently on the cards, but some things are moving quicker than others. Moving accounts systems is a complicated process, but it has a high priority. We have already scouted out locations for the new premises.

After that. . . well, you will likely see us doing things that most RPG companies cannot dream of doing.

hmm ok - I miss colour in the lines you produce.................

anyway its exciting :) - I am a big fan of many 2000AD lines...............

To be more exact I miss many of the lines that were produced in colour, and I also miss colour in many of the lines that seem to have become B&W.

The shame is from moving to this naff print on demand supplier. The lack of proper page bleeds, poor alignment and no colour matching on covers, visible banding. All signs Mongoose shifted to a cheap nasty printer. All problems that continue even after they shut down their failed in-house printing.

Keeping the pdfs black and white as well makes no sense.

The move to Rebellion can only help. But my worry is that Rebellion don't do minis. Mongoose demonstrated they can't do minis, just rules. Rebellion have no track record, so I'm hoping they leave ACTA minis with Iron Wind. No-one seems to moan about their quality control.

DOH! You understand, I hadda try!

Good luck with the new venture. It sounds like a very positive move overall for Mongoose and Rebellion. I can certainly appreciate the "passing on" of admin and accounting stuff ('course with Exploding Goat it all just watching the debt numbers click upwards!).

Actually, for the best formatting (escpecially of images), you want to format originally in B/W rather than color. Hence, no color is usually even formatted. That's because you always loose some print quality when taking a color format (which you'd need for a color PDF) and blanketly (is this a word??) switching it over to B/W for print.

My 2 cents.

yeah we just waiting (and waiting) for IWM to start actually producing them. if they dont soon the chances of profit within the year go down dramatically.

Although oddly the MGP books always look (to me and others) like their are colour documents printed/photocopied in B/w - even though apparently they are not............ :? I hope colour reapears soon as it makes the product very much less impressive in comparission to other companies. The production qualitiy and imagery of the Hordes (for Warmachine) books (Privateer) "made" me spend £100+ immeditaley when I first discovered it.

The new books from MGP just look a little sad on my desk compared to them/ Apoclypse reloaded/ GW Army books etc. Books about mini's really do need colour I feel to show best both the Models and the background.

They had some of the ACTA minis at GenCon, so hopefully "soon".
