Rebel Scum!! (or mongoose joins rebellion)

Going out on a limb, I'd say a Star Wars RPG with RQ rules (specifically bearing in mind the stated inspiration for RQ combat) would slot nicely into the mysterious setting Matt talked about a while back that would revive SpaceQuest immediately.

Now this is purely conjecture, but I believe LucasArts LTD doesn't actually give over a full license. I doubt that Rebellion could sublicense the IP and allow Mongoose to make SW products, especially since Wizards already does one (not that Lucas has never given over permissions for competitor products before)...

I could (and I hope) that I'm wrong on this one... I'd LOVE more Star Wars stuff.

For me this has the simple joy of pointing to hearty chunks of 2000AD-related goodness in gaming form.

I'm excited!

but not RPG ones. hell even some of the RTS ones are including characters that gain xp.

Is there PC game that could properly be called ROLE playing game? All the ones I have tried have been more appropriatly ROLL playing games.

MMORPGs have some potential for it due to the high player player interaction potential. The evolving storylines can carry some weight but a resetting world has limits on that.
Morrowind had excellent storytelling, huge size and complex enough AI story scripts to provide a reasonable illusion of roleplaying.
Neverwinter Nights had elements of it in that you could get people's scenarios presented too you.

However they all still drop short due to lack of active intelligence on the side of the 'opposition/NPCs', lack of world persistence and a too high ratio of players to 'opposition/target NPCs' in a world that is not exclusively populated by active avatars. You don't have a DM, or DMs taking continuous active interest in the players basically.

Until thats possible, RPGs on computer are limited and RPGs at the tabletop will rule :)

using neverwinter nights 1 & 2 on multiplayer you can get good RPG, have had plenty of that as you get DMs and they can create the world for you to actually see visually rather than explaining.

2000AD titles for Traveller, in colour?

Could you actually have setting intros done as comic strips?

I shall start a rumour, amongst my fellows....

*casting thread necromancy*

Traveller MMO seems logical, as does a runequest game. So does a prepainted plastic minis line, not just for traveller, but for runequest, B5, SST, GoMG1, AvP, and more. Buying Traveller outright whenever Miller (or his estate) decides to give up control. Buying D&D (naaa). An active fiction or manga line seems logical as well.
