Read the High Guard Errata - almost lost two capital ships

Just caught up with the errata on Capital Ships...

When the errata for the computer core table on page 65 changed the Ship Size and Jump from Maximum to Minimum, it invalidated my TL-9 15,000 ton cruiser and TL-11 50,000 ton cruiser.

I am going to house rule this to say that you can build a larger ship if you add more computer cores.

So my TL-9 ship will have 3 x TL-9 Core/3 systems. Now more expensive, but does not wreck my current campaign.
As far as I am concerned, that solves that.

Thought I would share. See what you guys thought. :D

My personal take on this would be, that you use the command modules to control each section, with one primary, and each running a computer in parallel.

Possibly, the primary bridge has to be added in, in addition to the required ones.

I think you're confused - all this means if you need a better computer for better Jump Distances for capital ships.

It has nothing to do with limiting what computer you can put on what sized cap ship.

Ahh... then I am confused. What does the ship size Maximum column mean? :?

Not minimum to maximum?

Ahh.. yes... that exactly
I'm all looking at that chart in my book, thinking "Minimum? Why is it minimum for jump here? Did it used to be maximum?" Then I download the errata and see what I thought it should be. Ha!

I use it to reference how big a ship can be at a certain tech level. I've fit fat computers on small ships in the past I think though. Mainframes shipped in cargo holds that have to be plugged in and used for emergency. Cargo hold becomes the new bridge, sort of thing.

Ah yes, which led me back to my original problem. I had a TL-9 ship, 15,000 tons with a core/3 installed. I should have a core/5, but that is TL-11 and not available to the TL-9 society. Solved by multiple installations.

The TL-11 50,000 ton was an easier solution, replace the core/3 with the required core/5.

It all depends on the sci-fi movie you're watching at the time. Some ships just weigh more in different sci-fi settings.
