question about the factions

It was a wholey European problem untill we got messed with
And thank God the US got messed with.

Australia would have fallen to the Japs if it wasn't for the US. When the Japanese were on our doorstep Churchill said "Let Australia fall" (although that may have been a rumour started during an Ashes test after the war  ).

The US saved our behinds.

Not sure he said that. But yes Australia would have fallen. Britain had nothing like the resources to protect Australia or in fact the Far East.

Note, stop the French bashing. They won WW1 didnt they? And they beat Mussolini. The French army are pros and about as large as the British army.

The Germany army: no Heer naughty Hiro. Bundeswehr should work though.

I'd be one of the last to defend the French military, but I was impressed witrh some of the hospitals they have set up in Kabul as part of the NATO contingent.
I found myself wondering if they issue all of their female soldiers such tight uniform pants.

To elaborate on what Hiro had said, joint units assigned by higher commands - like CENTCOM, banded together to form Joint Task Forces (JTF's) are probably a safe way to go.

It did wonders for mine!

The differences in what all the Euro-troopies could do, compared to what US troops get in trouble for was astounding...

They had 'restraunts' with bars in them for their use, the Italians could grow goattees, the Brits go nowhere without beer, etc.

Being a plainclothed agent had its benefits.

one of my regualr gaming partners is waiting for WWII Evo to do a French army so he can set them up on the edge of the deployment zone and then fall back every turn.

Hmm. Poor French lose for a century and get everything ahead of that ignored.

The really awful army of WW2 (of the main-ish ones) is Italy with possibly the most incompetant officer corps seen by man.

Don't know why you're calling my statement foolish, Hiro. That's what Matt told me. If it remains that way, I'll see if I can't put together some S&P Articles to rectify the situation...Actually, might work out better that way.

Funny, my history lessons said it was the U.S. entry into WWI that turned the tide. And since when did the French beat Mussolini? Wasn't he ousted from power after the U.S. invasion of Sicily?

As for the current French army, I have no idea how good they are. When was the last time they were in combat?

@britenyfan: I'm sure that the brit troops took other "necersarys" other than beer aswell. a squadie never goes anywhere without his top-shelf reading material for those long cold nights in his biffy bag.

but ya right we don't go anywhere without beer, i remember once on exercise our Q, did a supply drop, half of it was booze the rest was food and ammo and such, hehe.

I guess I do not agree with the Brits being part of the EFTF in 2018...I just cannot see a Brit vs. U.S. conflict...considering the allies we have been , are and I am sure will be...it just does not make sense to me...the Lts and privates of today will be the Cols and CSMs of 2018...there is a bond there...anyway I just do not see it...

of course without the Brits...there is no EFTF...they would be the back bone of such a force...without them who would take the lead...as I look over Europe now...I see a stunning lack of combat experience in their armies...actually the most experience is probably in the Polish army...

and...the EFTF would fall apart very fast with a French on Brit friendly-fire or a German on French friendly-fire incident

I see Europe sitting out the 2018 conflict...and perhaps a better choice for the factions would have been...

AATF...Anglo alliance task force...with the U.S. , Brits. , Canadians , Aussies , Kiwis , and maybe even Norway & Belgium...

REF...Russian expiditionary foce...

PLA...China...

KLA...Kerakhistan liberation army...

all that said...I love the looks of this game...and hope to be heavily envolved in it...I just will never play the Brits of the EFTF against the U.S....that is why I hope to build a EFTF army and a PLA army...

if it makes you feel better if you do play US vs Brit, think of it as BATUS or some other training exercise.

and unfortunetly the way things are going, UK will become a full whole member of the EU, God damn you crappy government, "VOTE FOR UKIP!!" hehe.

or monster raving lunies!!!!

the Brit. Gov. might agree to join the EU...but Britain IS the British people...so by 2018...you might not be part of the EU...

I have never considered the Brits. European...

we are the perfect allies...two peoples seperated by one common language...

i would presume that the USMC and USarmy will operate much like the EFTF, you'll be able to mix and match units as you like into one force.

eg
1 british squad and challenger 2, a german squad with air support and a french catering unit as your force

a US army rangers squad backed up by 2 Marine expeditionary squads and an apache.

or just concentrate on one part of the faction eg wholly brit or wholly USMC

well thats how i see it any way.

Ideal force; British Infantry, French catering corps, German engineers.

Nightmare; French Infantry, German catering, British engineers!!
