Pulp Sci Fi Traveller

I have to admit that I am a sucker forall those classic Sci Fi pulp series - Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, Rocketman, etc...

How about a Sourcebook for Traveller based on this Genre ?

Heck - give me the job of writing it ! The research alone would be a blast.

Recently there have been a few such games : Cubicle 7 with STARDRIVE ADVENTURES and Savage Worlds : SLIPSTREAM and the forthcoming SPACE 1889.

This shows there IS a market for this type of setting. I know the first two mentioned have been decent sellers so it may be worth a look at. It would also be different enough from the core line of books to generate further releases if successful

IMHO it would be a huge asset to the popular line and be a winner.

What do others think ?

If you are interested in writing it feel free with the Traveller license it's possible to publish outside of Mongoose Publishing for the Traveller setting.

I know this :D And I am VERY tempted... Would anyone fancy collaberating on this ?

It would be a long term project and I reckon it would be a goer.

SteamTraveller could work.......worth a thought. Then expand to Traveller-Wold Newton. :D

Okay I am going to give this one a go.

It will be a Long Term Project... Seriously - anyone fancy helping out ? Art will definatly be needed although I can use a lot of the old out of copyright 1920's / 30's Pulp Artwork.

Will be starting it off next week and will prob get a blog running as to how it is going.

The idea is to a basic setting book/pdf and then sub genres/settings of it.

A first cousin to Pulp Traveller would be Tubepunk / Dieselpunk, the movie Sky Captain and the World of Tommorrow is a key example. I'd definitely be interested in collaborating on a Traveller Tubepunk soucebook.

I'm not a fan of the pulp fad, as that is what I regard it as amongst gamers, but that said, I would support a Pulp Traveller sourcebook or setting.

It would be one of my 'Five Key Sci-fi Settings':

  • Space Opera Traveller - 'Classic' Traveller - Check!
Military Sci-Fi Traveller - Big Robots, space soldiers, etc, like Hammers Slammers - Check!
Modern Conspiracy Traveller - X Files, secret agents, etc. Looks like it will be covered by Codename: Veil. Almost checked.
Near Future/Cyberpunk Traveller - Megacorporations, street gangs and VI hacking - not yet.
Pulp Traveller - as above. Maybe to incorporate Super Traveller! Maybe to incoroporate SteamPunk Traveller - not yet.
