Mongoose
It occurred to me that the forum is a little quiet, and we probably all have massive lead piles to get through, so why don't we do a monthly painting thread for getting through our Klingons/Noble Armada/Judge Dredd/Victory at Sea/etc?

Would anyone be up for a specifically Mongoose painting thread?

Well, at the moment, I've got 2 x Orion LR's, 1 x Orion DD and 6 x Romulan Battlehawks on the painting desk.

At least the darn belly birds on the Battlehawks are done.

I also have a platoon of 15mm WW2 French Infantry for North Africa, 3 x Dystopian Wars Prussian bombards and a Prussian carrier along with about 18 half finished 10mm Third Crusade Knights on that same desk so it is a process, not an event.

Beginning of each month we say what we want to get done that month, posting a pic of the unpainted model/s. End of the month we say what we've got done, posting pics of completed models. During the month we post WIPs for comment from everyone else if we like, and share tips and chew the fat.

Like an online AA meeting for painters.

Well,

It's not the beginning of the month, but I'll kick in:
I have plans to kitbash / paint nine Starline 2500 scale Federation destroyers.

since its already 6/9 and I have a nine day trip to Alaska coming up - I'll give myself til the end of July to finish them.
WIP photos to follow at regular intervals.

I want to finish off my JD Demonic Cabal.

But I'm currently working on Uncharted Seas ships, so they will probably get priority.

So as a goal for the month: paint at least 6 ships.

Well for me for Noble Armada it's 5 Church Frigates this month, with 3 GZG civilian ships to start my civilian fleet off.

I undercoated 6 cruisers last night. The windy weather meant I had to do it the old fashioned way with a brush!

I base coated three of them this morning.

I finished 2 Orion LR's and one DD last night. All in one general 'clan/band' scheme (blue & yellow) but with each different. This finishes one clan at 6 LR, 2 DD, 1 SAL. My next clan needs 2 LR, 1 DD and 1 SAL to complete (in a white with black flames red trim scheme) and then I'll do an OK6 and the Orions are done until new ships arrive.

6 Battlehawks will get finished in the next week but some Dystopian ships are next up.

I think all I've got left that needs to be finished is the few Gorn ships I have. Though I'm kind of tempted to try a Fed conversion or two. To what, I'm not sure. But I suppose it'd give me an excuse to buy a box from my new LGS and show some support for the game.

I got six of the Federation DDGs assembled last night and the other three are prepped. All that is left is pinning / assembling them.

Will post an in-progress photo as soon as all are assembled.

Finished the Fed destroyer fleet assembly tonight.
11 Federation Destroyers
1 DDF (Fast Destroyer), 1 DDL (Plasma Armed Destroyer), 6x DDG (Drone armed Destroyer), and 3 DDs (standard, under-powered, 4-photo variant).
Now to paint and detail them.

As someone who hates painting, but has gotten fairly decent at it since I started messing with miniatures games around 1987, I'm trying to get a few squads finished.

I bought the Federation Squad Box #1, and Klingon Squad Box #2 - Then decided it would be easier to use Starline 2400 minis interchangeably with SFB and ACTA, so I bought a bunch of those - Squadron Box #91, Klingon Squad Box #2, and a Border Box. After finishing up painting on the 2400 line Klingon Squad Box, I decided I really liked the detail on the 2500 line minis.

So now, the challenge is to finish the 2500 Starline Klingon Squad Box #2 and Federation Squad Box #1 (I started last night by painting an F5), follow that up with the Romulan Squad Box #9, and see if I am still motivated to finish the 2400 stuff I might not end up using much.

Here are a couple of pics:

Thanks guys. Updated the second pic to show decal. Next up is probably the D6, but I might not get to start on it until after the weekend.

One down...many more to go. I find the first of anything done takes the longest as you go through paint options.

Thanks.
The red turned out better than I thought. Windows, it didn't look just right without a whole bunch of them along the boom and front.
