Non Combat Models

Larac

Mongoose
Are there any plans to make Non Combat Models?

Civs, Cargo trucks or cars, that type of stuff?

Also would it be possibile, ( I think Mr. Evil mentioned it first), add some small bits like crates, barrels, or just rubble, this would help make it more playable out of the box I think.

Thanks,
Lee

I've finished template stats for a motorcycle, car, cargo van & big rig earlier today. I'd like to play a few more standard games and then try a few out first though.

Just wondering Paladin, since they're non-combatants, what part will they play in the game?

Though I did have an idea for Peacekeepers and non-combatants.

There could be a hostage rescue scenario. But for the most part, non combatants are scenario specific and isn't really feasable for mongoose to sell them.

There are plenty of other manufacturers out there to buy non-combatant minis from.

You have to be careful with rules for non combatents. Who controls them? How do they react? Do they count as cover :P

Whilst it goes against realism, it could hold up the game and cause alot of hassle.

I think the vehicles idea is cool though, it's basically scenery in the correct scale.

I've always found that adding "green" forces generally results in the intruduction of much in the way of headaches, confusion and downright terror on the part of players and thus is ALWAYS worth introducing wherever possible :)

Even moreso when the CNN Team is on hand (taking this to extremes our gaming group even hosted a mock "war crimes" trial after one game in which civilian casualties got a bit out of hand - oh and a few court martials too!)

I've finished template stats for a motorcycle, car, SUV, cargo van & big rig. Please note these are NOT playtested and are only based on my limited experience using the Basic Rules. The templates were created by extrapolating stats largely from the Hilux and Shadow as they are closest to non-combat vees. I'd like to play a few more standard games & read through the advanced rules and then try a few out few civilian vehicles to tweak them.

Lets see quick Civ rules.

Add civs to table in small groups 3-5 figs each.
This group may represent actual triple that number.

After all Players have taken thier turn.

Civ Phase
Look at the civ models as loose groups every 3-5 models is a group choose based on 3-4" apart, and will react together (mob thinking), a few groups may logicaly be only 1-2 and that is fine.

Trace quick LOS from a group to any active model, (that is not hidden)

Check to see reaction.
Roll a d10 and a d6, do not pick up the d10 as the point may show direction.

1 Absolute Panic! Group moves in Direction of point of d10, double the amount on the d6

2-3 Scared. Group moves away from unit at double d6 roll.

5-6 Worried. Group stays put hunker down, -1 Target & -1 Kill

7 Leaving Group Starts to walk fast away, move at double the d6 rolled, away from the active unit, if during this move they see another unit with a weapon they stop at LOS and do #6

8-9 Cover Group heads for nearest building or solid cover they can see, they will move the d6+2" to get there, at the end of the trn they will lock/bar the door. Other Civs may enter but Forces must breach door (a Ready Action).

10 Disperse and Cover, The group moves to hard cover but does so in all differnt direction, group is removed from table.

If the Group hid a MEA unit, at this time they will be taken off the table.

Once in a building the group/s will stay put unless building is attacked.

-1 to the roll if group had LOS to a shooting unit, a shot unit, or some type of carnage.

an additional -1 if any Civ in the group was shot, or shot at.

These should move the Civs to cover or off table fairly quickly, and have only 4-6 groups out max, so only a few rolls between the turns.

Done quickly but I think its workable, without bging the game,

Add Network 54 rules to these, if a reporter films a Civ being shot, -VPs lots of them to the force that did it.

MEA hidden rules.

Certian MEA units may hide in a Civ group.
It may reveal itself in the MEA turn, place the MEA figs in command, all within 1" of a civ figure.
Remove all civ figs except 2.

OR
When the Civ group moves, the MEA may stay put and be put on the table.

If a MEA hidden Unit wants to take a Reaction, it Reveals itself as above.

An opposing Unit may take a Ready Action, if within 16" to scan a group, trying to see weapons and such.
Roll a die 10, 1-3 Can not tell, 4-10 MEA player will reval unit if there.
Remeber the MEA player will decide where the 2 Civ figs are.
If these are closer to the firing unit than any MEA figs then hits are allocated to them first.

If a unit kills a Civ figure, it will lose VPs, the amount will be based on the mission and other factors like Network 54 crews (CNN of Cyberpunk world).

A bit much in words but game time should be short, and can certinaly be streamlined even more.

Shorter version, Civ group moves in direction of d10 and amount of d6 until they see shooting, at which time they move towards a building or other cover and hunker down.

A bit lees time though not much, and does not allow panicked civs running between you and your target.

Ignore, improve, or just wonder,
Lee
