Some news for fans of JD!

The update of the rulebook is complete, and is just awaiting final layout (should be a little later this week). You can expect to see;

* A culling of all errata you chaps have raised on these forums.
* New forces, including Cursed Earth Desperadoes, Sky Surfers, the Lone Vigilante, and the Angel Gang.
* A handful of new Mercenaries - including Judge Dredd himself!
* New weapon options for Street Judges.
* Riot Judges are now part of the standard Justice Department line up.
* A general tidying up here and there...

We will have the new Citi-Def and Zombie Mistress (possibly the odd Caligula) in hand very soon, and we'll be revealing the contents (as well as putting them up for pre-order) of the new JD box sets.

We will also be showcasing some brand new miniatures, fresh from the hands of Shanbe Hoyle - we are eagerly crouching by the letter box, waiting for them to pop through!

Finally, we are looking to arrange a Judge Dredd open day/tournament a little later this year, so keep you diaries open!

Nice but may lead to yet another change in my planned gang - our campaing starts when we get the current RPG out of the way.

One question - roster sheet planned soon?

oooo cool new Citi-Def, i really liked the Citi-Def: Field Trip spin off, so i'm going to be stocking up on these :D

Good news about the updated book, i should have my Cursed Earth gang painted and finished any day now yipy :)

Any (rough) guess as to when?

Roughly now! :P

Okay, so an initial skim seems to suggest that Psi Judges are now... cheaper than Street Judges?

And the more experienced Sky Surfers (Icons) are half the cost of the juve ones?

I second this request for a date.

I would love to travel to a Dredd weekend, but advance notice is required.

The sooner that this info comes out the better :)

I noticed this as well, i presume each one is supposed to be the other way round. I have only skimmed through it but i did notice a couple of spelling mistakes. It might be worth having a V2 errata thread when everyone has had a good read.

minor one:

on the Justice Dept gang section, the riot judge is missing the table lines..Also, shouldn't the riot judges have riot armour listed under their equipment (instead of standard issue?) their armour stat shows the +6. this goes for the mercenaries section too.

speaking of the mercenary riot judge...if base riot is 190 and each level increase adds a +25, wouldn't a level 3 be +50 more than the base lvl 1 hero? so 240 vs the listed 200?

Just a quickie - something got lost in the translation, obviously, so we have just done a tiny update, correcting the points values for the Psi Judge and Surfer Icon.

If there is anything other issues you see, list them here and we'll round them up on the next major update, but you should be good to go now!

<3 Just in time for our Friday evening game. :D Thank you!

I'll certainly keep an eye open for any more issues. Do you want spelling/grammar/typos mentioned as well, or just stick to rules?

We'll take them all - this is a 'living' rulebook, so we can update any little thing with each revision.

A few points...

On page 39 in the table, shouldn't it read +2 for Characteristics for a Level 1 Hero to be consistent with the other references to upgrading to Level 1?

A really minor point that has hung over from the first version - on page 70, right hand side, second paragraph, the last sentence reads "He also apples the same code..." - I think 'apples' should read 'applies'...

Is there any chance of getting a summer (or beyond if you know) release schedule? I'm looking forward to ordering the snazzy newer chimps and oragutan, but i already have the gorillas, so i'm probably not going to get the box set, so i'll get them individually.

Also do you know the dates of the new CitiDef, Zombie Master and Caligula you mentioned, or if you will have the painted previews up soon?

Thanks

According to todays Planet Mongoose:

New Judge Dredd models are being painted right now, and the all new Cadet Judge and Zombie Mistress (with some plastic Zombies!) will be available very soon.

Which is very exciting :D I'd be interested to see what the plastic zombies are like, it has been said that it's from another company, although i only know Games Workshop and Mantic that do plastic zombies. If they are from a fantasy range, it'd be great if there could be an upgrade sprue, like Mantic do with there metal command sprue to give them a Dredd feel. Maybe a few legs with boots and kneepades and some zombie punk heads or rusting out cybernetics, which i think would be awesome

Well I cant wait for more models, 8( Even though I've already been waiting two weeks for mine...)

As for zombies, if you really want em. Wargames factory has a dang good deal. So It could be them.

Being a bit of a zombie geek, i already have a pack of those, and i would say that the picture they have there is a bit deceptive. The minis are ok, but just ok, theyre fine for modern zombie games were you need hundreds but as a whole i found some parts dont fit too well together and while im a decent enough painter, i found i couldnt get much detail out of the faces. Theyre not bad mind you, and a great price, just not fantastic, you may also find them slightly too small scale for Judge Dredd, and you will also need to base them up, the moulded ones dont stand up too well.

Mantics zombies are very nicely detailed and at a great price too, but the legs do make them look a bit too fantasy, uperbodies are fine, just barechested which works for sci-fi/modern just as well, but if they did have an upgrade kit i'd buy dozens even if i didn't use the zombie force, which im totally going to anyway :P It'd save me having to buy boxes of GW saturday morning cartoon zombies, and then boxes of imperial guards just to make a unit of zombies for my Nurgle 40K army.

I wonder if the zombie force will get the the super singing zombies, whos name i have forgotten, from Judgement Day? :P
