New to the Game - B5:ACTA 2ed Rules Question

Burger on your ship sheets why are there 4 squares after each ship trait on them? I think I may be missing something, but not sure what?

Its a handy thing to note if a system (trait) has been knocked out by being crippled or throgh Critical Hit effects. The latter can (potentialy)be repaired during game, the former only through campaign play IIRC.

you can do it that way - if it is crippled we use just cross the system off - and use the boxes for the "knocked out"

So if you get a random trait crit and another random trait crit to the same trait then you have to repair the same random trait 2 times before you can get it back? So you mark a box each time the same random trait gets rolled for and is taken out? Sorry, but I tend to overthink stuff sometimes.

yep thats correct - usually its either the most harmless (atmospheric) or potentially dooms the ship (Adaptive armour, dodge and stealth)

Awsome, I thoought you only lost the trait one time. Like if the ship lost dodge then that would be it you repair it one time to get it back. I never realised you could loose it more then one time. So I would have to repair it 3 or even 4 times before it would come back. Thats pretty cool because the sensor in the ship that causes your ship to dodge could take more or less damage. You could also look at it as it takes more time for your crew to repair a more serious hit.

I must have missed that in the rules. Thanks again.

There are 4 boxes, one for each ship on the sheet.

Doh, ya that would make since. I am just being stupid lol. Well you still take multiples of the same crits right?

Thsi is going to sound funny asking , but I have always played games on some type of a map. I am just wondering about etiquette. When you go to move your ships can you measure out exactly where you want your ship to go? Like do all the measurements then put your ship where you want it, or do you just move on the fly and measure as you move?

I know it says you can measure at any time, but I was wondering if you could pick a point before you move and measure to another ship from it to see if your in range for weapons then try to move your ship to that area or point?

Pre measuring is allowed at all times - we have always played that you can work out your movement ahead of moving your ships, and all the relevant angles and so on. Hell we do it in tournaments and and even discuss it a bit - saying yeah that means I can't hit you, or you can def see the ship there, that ship is boresighting this ship etc etc. I find that actually a few words of agreement during the movement phase can save time and "discussions" later.

We often use dice to pre plot movement and work things out without having to move ships - its actually quicker than it sounds and good when there are lots of ships in a small area............. other people mesure and move - but there is no prescribed way.

When you preplot with the dice do you measure until you want to turn then put the dice at the turnng point? Then do the 1"or2" depending on traits then stick the second dice there?

Quite often yes, it's like showing your working in an exam.
