The NAS can, at short range or less, tell you if there is neural activity up to noting the individual brain activity. But the downside is that it doesn't show up until TL15 with the advanced sensors.
However, TL12 has the life scanner sensor option. It is "…specifically calibrated for detecting signs of life and differentiating between life forms…[and] has an accuracy of between 70% and 85%…." Is this the lower-tech version of the NAS? If so, does it use the NAS range/detail as found in the CRB?
