Mongoose
I know that GHQ do a couple and also Panzerschiffe do a few but does anyone know of any other companies that sell the little babies. More specifically in the UK. I can get the GHQ models no problem but the Panzerschiffe ones are more difficult. I am looking to do Operation Cerberus/Thunderbolt. Also looking to do a couple of US Japanese MTB encounters too so any help would be grateful. I am also looking to do Operation Tiger so lookng also fo landing craft and S boats.

Buy them? :? Blow that, if I decide I need MTBs it will be grains of rice glued to platicard and painted grey.

To be honest I'd not use VAS if I wanted to represent coastal forces craft in any semi serious way. There are much better alternative sout there (some of them "free issue2 on the internet) that will give amuch better (and more "fun") representation of coastal forces warfare. The rules presented in OOB do, however, allow coastal craft to be used against heavy ships such as battleships, which often fall outside the scope of coastal rules. Oh, and do it in 1/1200 or 1/600 instead :)

yes I know there are better rulesets for this but unfortunately the only people at my club that are shipheads are myself and my son, the others just want ta fast play rules set for a bit of fun. I am working on getting them to play with GQ and sea wars fleet action but got to get them to walk before I try getting them to run. One of them wanted to play The Cerberus mission but in 1/1200 for just one game that would be an expensive scenario. Umpteen destroyers and MTB's not to mention Gneisenau Scharnhorst and Prinz Eugen in 1/1200

If you succeed try them with these :)

One question about your rules for coastal forces:
¿From which manufacturer are the boats?
They seems to have a good size.

I use two scales - 1/1200 (or 1/1250 - they are pretty much identical) and 1/600.

In 1/1200 there are an enormous range of models available, but some of the ebst coastal models are made by Figurehead / Noble Miniatures.

In 1/600 I'd recommend models by Skytrex, SDD (Stronghold) and PT Dockyard.
