Mongoose Publishing has entered a partnership with Jason & Christoper Kingsley of computer games developer Rebellion (creators of Alien vs. Predator, Black Hawk Down, Sniper Elite, and owners of the 2000AD/Judge Dredd comics) to produce the Evolution series of miniatures games. This partnership will grant the Evolution games (including Battlefield Evolution and Starship Troopers Evolution) the combined resources of both companies, allowing a wider reach in the market and sufficient production to meet the demand for these products.

Battlefield Evolution
The pre-painted game of near future combat, the first wave of box sets has met with great success. Wave 2 is due for release at the end of March, and another production run of the first wave is already under way. With the release of the advanced rulebook soon after, you can expect to see a new wave of releases every month for Battlefield Evolution, ensuring you always have a wide range of choice for which ever forces you collect.

Starship Troopers Evolution
Based on the ever popular Heinlein novel and the highly successful film, this game uses the Evolution system to bring the War of the Species to your tabletop. Pre-painted Mobile Infantry, Arachnids, Skinnies and Forth miniatures will be appearing in the first wave of releases for this game, hitting your local stores in August.

Be sure to check out the next issue of Mongoose's free online magazine, Signs & Portents, for the latest information on both of these games. Due for release on the 1st of March, you can download it here;

Ah, so this was the deal you guys had mentioned.

Now, I'm not entirely sure what both sides bring to the table for each other, besides both being game companies, albiet of different kinds of games.

I do know you have a history of working together since the Judge Dredd license comes them from.

Still, this can't be a bad thing. Hopefully we'll see some interesting things to come from this in the future.

Well for one, Rebellion has wider entertainment industry contacts since they're involved in video games, film, and comics. They might also have other resources too.

Perhaps some very skilled 3D modelers from their game studio to make 3D printer models for use with SST or BFE?

Or maybe we'll see computer versions of BFE or SST.

Or miniature/rpg game versions of more of Rebellion's content.

Or more artists and designers working on new original armies for SSTE.

Etc...

We don't really know the extent of the partnership, but it can't be a bad thing per se.

Rebellion might have been working on some big new original property that they also want to release as a miniatures game and RPG. Mongoose has had a lot of experience working from licenses.

wow...

talk about an enthusiast responce guys...

Personaly however... I THINK THIS IS GREAT NEWS! :D
Good stuff Mongoose, your on the ball with this one!

I think people are wondering about consequences ATM...

I know I'm mystified at what the Rebellion is going to get out of this...

But. Should be good for Mongoose anyway.

consequences?

"This partnership will grant the Evolution games the combined resources of both companies, allowing a wider reach in the market and sufficient production to meet the demand for these products."

Sounds good to me.

Rather then worry about it, trust that Mongoose know what they are doing.

Oh, duh! The new printing setup! They're probably using something from Rebellion, maybe even the same stuff they use for those Dredd trades.

Not to mention comic companies have experience in making plastic miniatures of their properties.

:? Well if I remember correctly Rebellion have so far managed a grand total of 2 releases based of 2000AD (Rogue Trooper and Judge Dread), which they bought a good couple of years ago, so I suppose its good for them since they should manage to get a bit more use out of it...

I can see this helping Mongooses printed business, since it should allow access to a wider range of IP at a reduced cost, but Im not to sure how this helps the miniature side of things unless Mongoose is gonna invest in some more high tech equipment :?

An interesting move. I love some of the 2000AD IP. If the Evolution system becomes established, it could be used to create a range of product lines. Rogue Trooper Evolution, anyone? You could make some awesome models based on the ABC warriors, etc.

A few people have talked about fleshing out the SST universe to give it real flavour - that's a strength of the Warhammer universe. Maybe, rebellion could release some comics, computer games, novels, etc. which would do that.

That covers Mongoose side but what does the REBELLION get?-)

You don't get something for free so either Mongoose pays for Rebellion for this or Rebellion gets something other goodyness from this. If it's not much then Mongoose isn't going to get much in return either...It's not like Rebellion is likely doing much of a charity work

Our new printing facility (which begins to go online next week) has nothing to do with this arrangement - it is for the Evolution games only.

Obviously we cannot go into the details of the agreement, but we'll just say it is financially beneficial for both companies. . .

well i wasnt exspecting that

still least it wasnt WOC lol

could just be a distrubution deal, or rebelion have forked out x amount of cash into the evo games for a % of return so MGP can get the stuff produced fast enough and develop the games.

as for rebelion there bios is:

Rebellion are one of Europe’s largest independent game developers working on great games, including some of the top franchises in the world, for top publishers and on a range of formats covering Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PSP, PlayStation 2 and PC.

Rebellion have studios in Oxford, Liverpool (Runcorn), and Derby and also publish the legendary 2000AD comic featuring Judge Dredd, Rogue Trooper, Strontium Dog, ABC Warriors and many more characters.

maybe were get to see a rogue trooper mini game in the future in the same style as space hulk

Based on the ever popular Heinlein novel and the highly successful film

Ever popular novel I certainly agree with, the book is a classic, but "highly successful" film? I don't mean to bust your balls but didn't Starship Troopers tank? I'm not sure it actually broke even. The second Starship Troopers was even worse and went straight to DVD and the third one in the works will undoubtedly be worse than the other two put together. It's going straight to DVD as well. Has anything "Starship Troopers" been successful since the book was written?
