Traveller Release Schedule 2024

Without making any political points, can somebody advise how much the upcoming US Tariffs may impact distribution and costs next year?
No panicking as yet.

We print via a US company who has access to printers across the world. If the worst happened, I am guessing the first move would be to print in Canada (if the very worst happened, we have printed in the US before). Other options would be to ship US orders from the UK via the postal system which may or may not put things below the radar...

Basically, not enough info as yet, but we have done business in a variety of ways across the years and we can remain 'mobile'.

Right now, no one really knows how they will be implemented or even if they will be implemented.

Laugh it up. I already know of some RPG companies that are cancelling products because they can't afford to publish. Traveller is now owned by a British company and I am not sure where in the world it is printed. If it is printed outside the US the cost is going up and it may not be cost effective to shift it to the US either.
Why laugh at all. I find all this trump man bad stuff to be hilarious. f it costs too much due to tariffs (which may or may not happen)to import printed works from China then it doesn't take a genius to work out that a printing firm in the US will make money.

And there is always pod.

The US used to have a printing industry, where is it now?

Any plans for pod?

Really? I have some printed books and pod books from Onyx Path. Other than the pod being thicker I didn't notice any quality issues with the colour printing of the same titles eg the Scion 2ed books print vs pod, the Trinity books printed vs pod.

I only buy the premium pod though.

Several companies have already said they will just move their manufacturing to other countries not back to the US where the costs are too high. I believe printing will do the same.

I did say I wasn’t making any political point.

The point made from other game companies is that it isn’t just a case of switching to American printing firms. It may not be economically viable for certain lines to make that switch.

Mongoose appear to contract out printing to Studio 2 Publishing , and they are a US firm, no switch needed. Studio 2 logo is displayed on backcover of all books, alongside the Mongoose logo, since 2e, AFAIK.
Yeah, but the US imports a lot of paper for books. Tariffs and supply problems because of the pandemic were a huge hit to publishing costs a few years back.

Can confirm iPad Pro is a great tool for rulebooks of all sorts. I have a 9” and it’s sorta perfect. Not as big as the physical books but big enough I don’t have to fiddle around too much to see what I’m looking for. An occasional zoom in on a table is about it.
pdfs are the only way I can read books these days.

So what is the best portable reader out there these days that handles PDFs well, including text size and display format?

I like my Kindle Scribe for this.

I can read any eBook, PDF, etc. Make annotations, etc. The new software coming in the spring is supposed to make that even more seamless and shareable.

All the flexibility of font size changes, eInk so no lighting issues, battery lasts weeks or months depending on use. All the searching you need inside of items. Plus the Scribe has full notebooks to write in, take notes, etc. Handwriting analysis in the upcoming software.

Is it large enough to read a PDF so that I don't have to squint or scroll back and forth to see the whole page at a readable size?
