Minis

Mongoose
Do we have a chance to see minis as the ones I saw in an old minis factory ?

Centauris, Narns, official heroes, etc....

We could need some :)

Mongoose have already brought out NArn, Minbari warrior minis in packs of 8.

Centauri and Earthforce personnel are coming soon as are Vorlons amongst i would guess, many others.

Have a look at the main Mongoose site.

I think he meant the old "Harlequin" miniatures - from Kosh to Londo, from Sinclair to the Gaim Ambassador, from Morden to Ivanoca, they did many of the major (and minor) characters we saw on B5 before they lost the license when the4y became "Icon Miniatures"

And if Mongoose can get their molds (or redo them from sample minis) it would be great. Just a question of untangling possible legal red tape... and that can get too much trouble for mongoose if we're unlucky.

Before becoming "Black Tree Design"...

Some of the miniatures we really nice, some were awful - weirdly enough the main characters were the dodgier ones, and some of the ancillary characters were spot on.

I do have a soft spot for the Marcus Cole miniature. Looks nothing like Jason Carter at all, but has the "feel" of the character in a very comic book way.

But there's surely a deal to be struck there if the moulds and masters weren't destroyed.

I did ask Matt Sprange at Salute about B5 RPG minis.
He said that Vorlon box set will probably have 5 different encounter suits- should be enough for most times PC's meet Vorlon NPC's!!!!

I also talked about the old Harlequin minatures and how the facial scuplts often looked nothing like the lead characters. I asked whether he thought that could still use the old Harlequin figures alongside the newly released box sets. He thought they could be used alongside each other. In fact one of the other Mongoose employees said that he had some of the old Harlequin figures on his desk.

So I think they will be fine in adding more variety to NPC's and even PC figures. However it would be nice that once Mongoose have done the basic generic RPG figures that they could go on and do the main character models.

Cross fingers....

Cheers

I think that is because they made the major caracters first, when their sculptors had a bit more learning to do (remember the "promo" miniatures? Delenn, G'Kar, Kosh, etc.? They were made first, released as last box... and the worst of the whole bunch!)

Anyway I liked them all, no matter if they were nice or not (and some where looking rather "comical", with too big heads and such). And now that mongoose is doing minis, well, YAY! Perhaps they will be able to bring these old minis back (either by recovering molds/masters, or by recreating them from a complete set in mint condition), perhaps not. In any case, I will be happy to add their stuff to my collection (and can't wait until they bring out a "Shadow Sentient" box to give my Morden mini his two "associates")

After seeing the new Mongoose ones released, I broke out my Harlequin ones and started basecoating them.

If the new Mongoose ones are anything like some of the SST ones, they might be larger than the Harlequin models.

Overall, very few models have a likeness to any of the main characters. However, most look very good as models for just player characters. Rather than Captain Lochley, just call her Female EA Officer #1 (the one that's supposed to be Ivonova, just call her #2 or visa versa).

So far I've now have an assortment of other aliens as well, like Drazi, Gaim, Soul Hunters, and Llort.

Now I'd love to see what a Gaim Warrior Caste would look like, it'd probably have some alternate uses for SST RPG.
