Minbari vs Centari?

The first fight I fielded a sharlin, tinashi, Morshin, teshlan and leshath at battle 5 which gave me 14 nials, 2 flyers. the fighters were the only thing that did significant damage against his all hull6 fleet of an octurian, 2 primus and 2 altarians. He missed 2 stealth rolls the whole game. The sharlin died in 2 rounds, a lucky crit speed zero'd the tinashi the first round.

The second time (which was a campaign game) he fielded a primus, 4 prefects, 2 Dargans, 3 Corvans. I fielded 2 tinashi and 2 morshins (as I have been at -1 FAP in all but 2 battles for the entire campaign). My stealth was reduced to nil so fast it wasn't even funny. By the time I even had my fighters deployed, one of my tinashis was crippled...

and in the Annihilation and SFOS senarios you can't start with any of your fleet in hyperspace.

Sounds familiar!

So at five battle he has no scouts, maybe ten flights total (can't remember any but the primus at 2 flights) and you were dieing in turn two (almost certainly our of range eight). Seems to me that this had to be a dice rolling demenstration. If his five ships only failed two stealth rolls needing a 5+ on the sharlin at least, this is just bad luck (he should only succeed on one in three and he was making failing less than that, and that's assuming the altarians were even getting in range.)

Add to this you did no damage with your ships. Given you had a scout and so at least the possibility of a re-roll without needing to caf, so you could say CBD, this just seems like you must have rolled very poorly.

Not saying stealth does not have issues...it does, but its hardly the useless defense your making it out to be. (Now in campaign if your opponent is holding back his exp dice it can be difficult, but if you are down a FAP in most fights people cannot be holding back too many exp dice for re-rolls.)

It's just sheer firepower of the Centauri that wins them these games. They only need to see a minbari ship once and it's in dire straits.
Being a Centauri player i know im going to win if my primus fires every round, games i've lost my primus has missed a round or two of firing due no targets.
Before the changes to the stealth rule Centauri were the only ones that could deal Minbari easily, similar dogfight, same amount of fighters ( rutarians are actually useful in reducing stealth and their DD, precise weapon hurts low hull ships ), dirt cheap scout, plenty of hull 6 ships with lots of hits and more firepower.
Because stealth is such a hit and miss thing it reduces the boneheads hits and hull to balance which is exactly what Centauri want with SAP,DD beams. They don't care if they don't see you the first round as they will just get you with Anti Matter cannons as well next cause the can slice you in one turn.

Low hull, no hits minbari ships aren't canon they got hit but it seemed to be ineffective, could survive a shadow slicer beam.
If stealth increased hull when failed or no of bulkhead hits you could give them more hits and hull. They wouldn't have to be paperthin ships. Also take out the range modifiers, range doesn't effect weapons to hit so why have it for stealth. I would imagine it would be the opposite as closer to the source the stronger the jamming.

Then again beams shooting before pulse weaponary isn't exactly canon as more often pulse weaponary opens up before before people with beams fire. Maybe beams should be for close range work & ballastic weapons for long range.
I think got Minbari spelling right in this post.
