M998 HMMWV

Banded Mongoose
I'm trying to rough out some stats for Hummers. I've compared what I have with Pietia's cards on EvoCommand. Those are (for the base HMMWV) 60 pts for the vehicle armed with an M2 machine gun. Stats are:

Size: 2
Move: 10
CC: 3xD10
Target: 6+
Armor: 5+
Kill: 8+

Options: Upgrade M2 to Mk19 for 10 pts, to TOW II for 30 pts, upgrade armor to 4+ for 10 pts.

vehicle is tough, ignoring first missed armor roll.

NO TRANSPORT.

The Shadow is only 70 pts, including the CKEM and transport for 6. It can also ignore the first 2 failed armor rolls.

I would think the HMMWV would be more inline with an MEA technical, maybe even less since the technical carries 8 and a HMMWV should only carry 6. say, 40 for the vehicle, and you could still go 20 or 30 for the TOW upgrade?

Thougts?

Or you could justy to the www.evocommand.com website and find stats for plenty of vehicles both modern and obsolete post WW2.

Including that Hummer.

That's where I found these stats (as stated in the original post), and thought they were way off.

Not bad, but why No transport?

I don't know why the original didn't have transport. It must have been hauling a crapload of ammo for that M2, I guess! I felt that for those points it should be able to transport.

The original didn't have transport, because I forgot about it ;-) . It should be able to carry 4 dismounts (it can carry 6 troops, but two of these are the driver and gunner). As for the costs - look at my response on evocommand...

Well as I stated to you on the Evo site, points and stats are subjective. You are free to change them how you wish. Just don't say the other guy is wrong the way he made them.

Example, I would have made the Hummers ignore the first 2 hits, instead of just 1. But, that is just me. As long as your fellow gamers at the table can agree, then what is the point?

Pietia has done a splendid job making all these cool card for we the gamers to work from as a guideline. Be thankful that he made them available instead of being critical.

Criticism is good - as long as it is constructive (e.g. pointing out mistakes/imperfections and suggesting corrections). A revision of all the unit cards I've created is coming (after I get the rulebook), so any comments are welcome.

I wasn't trying to say anyone was wrong. Sorry if I came across that way. I was trying to understand the logic behind the decisions. I agree that the cards look great. Hopefully I'll get to do some playtesting this weekend and see how things work out.

TiePilot - don't worry - I come from a culture in which criticism is not something bad - rather a standard. BTW - my main forces in evo are US Army and USMC (this will last 'till I find some good 1/72 Polish Army soldiers) and I want to avoid the "more loved army syndrome" - sometimes I may overcompensate a little bit and make a unit weaker than it should be.
As for any comments - I am all ears.

Are people confusing the Unarmoured, Softskin Hummer with the O'Gara-Hess armoured Hummer, the M1114? I don't think the unarmoured Hummer can take much punishment, but the M1114 can.
