Love for the Aliens

Oh come on, B5 has always had strong fantasy and mythical elements. You´ll find more than one piece of Tolkien in it, and the whole story is based on babylonian creation myth. That´s what set this series apart, and that´s what makes B5 the great series we all love.

The Technomages fit nicely into this concept, especially when you consider that their abilities are tied into the use of what was originally shadow tech... (which also goes to show that there is more to a highly advanced race than just building powerful ships)

Nope excellent characters set B5 apart, which is why Crusade and Legend of the Rangers were awful, poor characters

Technomages were definately among the stupidest things in B5. So was whatshername who "thought like rogue" or whatnot. Then again most of the B5 made for TV movies sucked as did most of Crusade.

Agreed, they were moronic "ooh we use technology to simulate magic!"
Paul Daniels with a spaceship

I liked their original incarnation (The episode where Londo contacts them)... But they became a bit too 'powerful' in Crusade.

To be honest, this is an example of a road JMS may be taking with the 'Lost Tales' stories that doesn't excite me. Sure, B5 has it's share of faith and mysticism, but it's paired with a lot of well-done at least somewhat realistic science fiction and an ethos that deus ex machinas don't save people, people do.

I'm hoping the Lost Tales and further stories remember that.

Superb.

Which LGS would that be? I am orignally from the Chicago area. Waukegan, IL. There was a large B5 Wars group at Friends Hobby there, many of the same folks I played Battletech, SFB and Warhammer against. If they knew the success I have had at B5:ACTA so far, they would be in shock. I did not win a single game of ANYTHING back then.

Games Plus in Mt. Prospect. However, when I need to find very rare figs, I do make the trek to Friends Hobby.

I know, the place is a gold mine. And about as clean! Hah! But really, Bob is a friend of mine and that was a cheap shot.

Bob's a good guy, but he just doesn't have the space for all the stuff he has. Everytime I go there I find stuff I haven't seen in years. He always seems to have some really cool and rare stuff.

I really need to see if I can find some old B5 minis. I knew I had really helped out more than my fair share at the shop and with the club when I came in looking for any of the out of production Battletech minis and he directed me to a drawer under the rack. I had helped do inventory one or twice before, but always near the end of the inventory, so even I was surprised to find the old, and I mean VERY old, box sets. Each one had for out of production minis, in original hazardous lead. I stocked up that day and went back a bit later for some of the newer things.

Then I moved and my parents sold my house with almost everything in it.
Oh well.

Definately the characters that defined B5. And the cool looking ships. The overarching story was good in Seasons 2 and 3 but kind of collapsed in Season 4 and then jumped the shark while colliding into a massive train derailment caused by a plane crashing onto said train and dragging the whole mess onto the interestate for Season 5(most of this happened when Byron showed up).

Seconds before the extinction event meteor crashed as Crusade began.

Evolution of the thunderbolt..so another EA fighter....

Unless for some reason the project scope really got blown out of hand and the 'new' Thunderbolt now has a crew in the low 20s and is considered a Very, Very, Very Light Cruiser... :D
