Hi guys,

My name is Mike and, while not new to d100 systems (I played a lot of ElfQuest back in the day), I am new to RuneQuest and Legend.

I'm reading on factions and I keep seeing everywhere that joining factions has the benefit of getting discounts on training. It's a good idea and makes sense, but the Legend rulebook only talks about it in a general sense, even on the examples (Alaric knows he's going to save some coin joining the Thunderer's cult).

Is there anywhere written where it talks about applying those discounts? I'm sure that most factions aren't going to have rate schedules posted, but I'm not entirely sure about how to apply this. Or is this something done on an individual case-by-case basis? And do they negotiate? "Well, the Thunderer's cult offered me 10% off my sword training, but the Lightning God's cult not only made it 15%, but threw in training on a Magnitude 1 Bladesharp for a mere 50 SP. Well, Thunder lovers?"

On an entirely unrelated note, I'd advise editing the title of this thread of yours to something like "Costs of Training and Factions Question," because the choice of title makes the whole thread look like spam from the outset.

I have read that, and it does a great job of explaining all about it, except for the part about discounts for faction members. Membership hath its privileges, but how good are the privileges? An independent teacher is one thing (this is covered), but being a member of a group, that could undercut an outsider easily, I would think.
