Hyborian Adventures for RuneQuest?

I think this OGL version of Conan is the nearest line to the RQ system which the D20 rules can reach for the following reasons:
- armor points
- death damage which ensures even PC's with a lot of HP are still vulnerable
- magic points
- etc.

Now I am sure anyone of you can design some home rules to suit more your feelings. Like HP location or more flexible rules for skills if you are not pleased with levels.

I'll agree that Conan OGL is a very neat take on the d20, which is why i bought it and why i run it. But a BRP version would be a different thing alltogether. To be honest, it doesnt really make sense to convert Conan OGL: making your own homebrew or sticking a classic fantasy system to the Hyborian age is the easiest thing in the world: so I think it's a case of either going for the whole class and levels thing and kicking back with d20, or going for a more down to earth and gritty system alltogether and making ur own Conan rpg.

Would it be "down to earth" or would it be "gritty"?

I think Conan D20 is gritty but down to earth is nothing I've ever tried to bring to the game - probably the complete opposite! :D

I think I know what you are saying. I just don't have time to convert a whole system and agree it would be easier to just use another one with houserules.

In my mind gritty and down to earth are pretty much interchangable: and it can still be high adventure: it just isn't taken to mangaesque heights of garishness etc.
