Hyach/Cascor New Races To Tackle

Hi There,

Just wondering if Matt and the boys have considered adding the Hyach and the Cascor to the fleet lists, maybe some counters, even through S & P's....... Given the current possible happy tidings for ACTA I just had to ask (HEY BURGER MY CAPS LOCK IS FIXED.... :lol: )
 
I am currently working on 7 new fleets from LONAW including the hyach (which are pretty much done) and cascor.
 
the cascor are from teh Dilgar war novels, IIRC. would lvoe ot see the star skater fighter, if that was the correct name.

and sounds interesting. would be curious as to see what their carriers are like.
 
its AoG fluff i am using to design and make the new races.

the cascor tend to use ion cannons, like the centauri but these wont be twin linked. they also are very fighter heavy, the list has 4 types of fighters as it stands at the moment.
they also have a couple of unique weapons in Rad Cannons and Ion Field Generators which I have done rules for already.

I am also working on a few variants to flesh out existing league races. as well as unique admirals for races if I can come up with them.
its quite a large project so it may take some time.

also as I have mentioned in another post I really need pics of the various new races ships for making counters and for art throughout the supplement.
 
THE CASCOR:

An inquisitive peaceful race, the Cascor are large fur covered mammals who were amongst the stars long before many other races. Had the thought occurred to them, they would have held a vast stellar empire, instead however they were more interested in continued exploration and had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. As such, they only once colonised outside of their homeworld, but their exploration vessles were seen far beyond their own space. Whilst not a member of the league Prior to the Dilgar war, the Cascor nonetheless were drawn into the conflict and suffered more then many other races. The Cascor thought others would be as themselves, and at the start of the war had few capitol ships, relying instead of planetside fighters. As the Dilgar breached these fighter defences time and again, the Cascor were slaughtered in their millions. The Cascor pulled off some excellent feats of engineering to design and build vessels to stand in their way, but they retained their predominant use of fighters producing some of the finest of the war. Cascor ships are armed with Ion weaponry, usually purchased from other races, and then amended by these resourceful people.

Special rules

Ionic laser. The ionic laser was a fusing of standard laser technology with an ion component, this made it somewhat unstable and a captain could never be sure just what damage this weapon would do.
When rolling to damage an ionic laser bulkheads on a 1 or 2, but on a critical hit, this weapon adopts the Dilgars Master of destruction trait for the following weapons
Ionic laser - Double Damage
Heavy Ionic laser - triple damage
Please note, that the light ionic laser does not have this ability

Boarding. The cascor do not use troops onboard their vessels, therefore any attacking marines would be surprised to find little to no resistance, alas, even more of a shock to them would be the high levels of radiation emitting from the various ion weapons and engines. Unlike normal boarding actions, troops attacking a cascor ship die on a 1-3.

Radiation Cannon. Quickly learning that the radiation which was almost un-noticeable to themselves was deadly to others, Cascor military scientists developed the Radiation cannon. Diverting the radiation generated by the ion engines into a focused beam, this weapon can target enemy vessels and flood them with death!.
The radiation cannon follows all standard weapon rules, but all damage is zero. Critical damage "effects" still occur as radiation isn't only harmful to biological forms!

Caccar Interceptor - The Caccar was one of the first defensive vessels designed by the Cascor. Using ion technology obtained from a Centauri trader, the caccar is a match for the renowned Aorora starfury in every aspect despite predating it by over 30 years.

Tiqincc medium Fighter - The Tiqincc was the natural progression of the Caccar. With a significant upgrade in weapons potential, for only a small falloff in antifighter ability. The Tiqincc was designed in reaction to raider attacks on survey and trade vessels. Whilst the Caccar could take on the fighters, the Tiqincc was capable of taking on the small fighter carriers

Calaq Assault Fighter
One of the heaviest fighters in known space, the Calaq was designed and built around the newly developed Ionic laser. With superior armour, and excellent speed for it's size, the Calaq is capable of holding it's own against all but the best dogfighters.

Taccaci Strike Frigate - Patrol

The first Capitol ship designed by the Cascor, the Taccaci was a direct response to the ever increasing raider threat, giving the Cascor a vessel capeable of deploying fighters into any area. The Taccaci's speed and manoeuvrability was it's primary defence, and once it had deposited it's payload it often withdrew to leave the fighters to their work.

Crocti Patrol Carrier.

This Vessel was designed at the onset of the war, realising that fighters launched from the surface took too long to reach attacking Dilgar ships, and the existing Taccaci unable to carry larger fighters, the crocti was a spacebourne airfield, able to launch, and recover not only the interceptors, but the newly developed Calaq. Carrying little weaponry itself, it is often felt that this vessel was the inspiration behind the Earth Alliance Avenger.

Katarri Surveyor

The Cascor have been exploring space for hundreds of years, long before mankind moved beyond their own solar system, the cascor had already discovered stars, worlds and races far beyond their own region of space. As such, survey vessels are often rebuilt, updated and sent back out on their missions rarely falling behind the latest cascor technology. The katarri is the latest in a long lade of prod vessels to reach for the unknown with excellent facilities and sensors and defensive systems.

Qorric destroyer.

A more orthodox vessel by other races standards, the Qorric carries few fighters but has a solid armourment utilising standard Cascor weaponry. Fast and agile to keep up with the fighter assault, the Qorric was a nasty surprise for the Dilgar who felt they could overcome the fighter assaults.

Norsca Battlecruiser

The largest ship built by the Cascor, only a few made it into the war. The Norsca was not a direct comparison to battlecruisers of other fleets, but following standard Cascor doctrine, carried a large number of fighters in it's bays. This isn't to say it was defenceless and an unwary Dilgar commander rarely lived to regret ignoring this vessel.

Thats a fairly comprehensive list, full bodied and playable... :D. I agree some counters to go with these would be awesome (and practically work free for Mongoose!).
 
And in the absence of metal miniatures, an excellent extra motiviation to buy the counter set. Makes a lot of sales sense.

Remind me though, at the moment, mongoose no longer print in colour. Is that right.

Will be interesting to here the pending CTA news in mid July.

well any budding artists out there, I could do with some pictures of various space ships for the races.
they dont have to be official (although do like look of hyach ships) as I just need a series of ships for each race to make counters etc.

When do you plan to have your finished pdf ready Katadder. I scratchbuild a lot in my spare time and I have planned to do some Hyach ships to CTA scale, (probably my own design), but wont have these ready until towards end of this year, (working through a list of more important builds, (to me anyway), so could not take pictures till then.

[For the record my scratchbuilds are one offs, for my personal use, and most definitly not for sale under any circumstances].

2 possibilities spring to mind;

Surely someone out their on the forum has some fleet action scale Hyach or Cascour that can be photgraphed.

Other possibility is photgraphs of proxy miniatures, although not sure on the legality of this one. I have plenty of GW ships, GW Tau springs to mind as being suitable non gothic.

By the way I am really looking forward to your supplement.
 
dunno when will be ready, work on it when get free time.
have done variants for most the main races.
hyach fleet list and ships are pretty much done, just need testing a bit, same goes for ipsha,
currently working on the cascor.
then have grome, hurr, kor-lyan and torata to do.
also am trying to come up with a unique admiral for each race and maybe some more scenarios.
