Good news you can now..... ORDER NEW B5 SHIPS!

I can't say anything about LBH's fighters. I fear having to start on painting my fighters. I have like a pound and a half of fighters sitting in a plastic container waiting to be painted. Soooo many of the little buggers

Hopefully somebody will sell them in Germany, too.
There are enough players left here who want Minis.

If B5 would show up on conventions in Germany with demos I'm positiv that many new players could be gained.

Not in Germany, just got an E-Mail that the last shop I know sold out it's left over stock :( . What I found is that IWM actually only sells directly what they have on ther HP with pictures.

I haven't bought anything new as I have all the fire sale stuff still to do stuff with. I do plan on buying a few things down the road a bit.

thinking about it but now need a new car after someone trashed mine and drove off without stopping to see if I was still alive after....... :(

but on the bright side I was massively lucky and walked away with with only a few stitches 8)

may get a few bits and pieces after Xmas

Most are pretty self-explanatory but several need accurate photos, descriptions and scales - such as the Chronos and Vorlon Transport where two scales of miniatures have been used and the Hyperion where it appears that the old mould has come back into use.

Here in Switzerland we play still with the Fleetscale Miniatures. Cheaper an easy to make variants (colorwise or converting).

For the big ones, this new prices are insane... :(

They did state they got the old AoG Hyperion mold from Mongoose, not the new one.

It was the miscasts that really bugged me.. If they manage to clean it up, I'd prefer an old one.
The old mold is actually not bad and even more accurate. The new 1s are a bit too slim and the thrusters are positioned wrong... But they do have variants.

Indeed. These prices will stop new people from buying into the game as iot is much too expensive now

yeah, wonder what price an adira will come in at :D around £40-£50 probably. crazy prices.
and currently can only get them from Ironwind which means we could always be hit with import tax on top here in the uk.

The bow on the old Hyperion is wrong, it's angled whereas on screen it appears squared off. However, a bit of surgery with a file, followed by a wrap of paper around the bow, can alter the ship's appearance to what it should be. The stand mount is a big block of metal which messes up the appearance of the lower gun turrets, but it's closer to the model's CG.

Here's mine in company with an Omega.

Minor details aren't really a problem anyway for a ship that has been in service for quite as long as the Hyperion. You can bet that with developments over the years the last one to be constructed isn't going to look identical to the first.

Yes.. I did one such surgery on mine ;)
You could also drill the hole slightly forward of the superstructure for the stand. Just like the new model.

I'm assuming it's because I'm in the US and don't have to deal with import tax and such, but for the most part the prices don't seem horribly excessive to me. With a few glaring exceptions the increase is only 2, maybe 3 dollars, which is annoying but not excessive.

Of course there are exceptions, mostly the very largest ships in terms of weight (none of which have been remastered yet), and fighter flights. I can understand the first; an Adira uses a lot of metal, after all. The second kind of boggles me, though. I mean, $9.95 for a flight of Nials, or two flights of Starfury? That just doesn't seem right.

The pound has dropped against the dollar a lot as wel which makes a big diffrence

There are certain "fixed costs" in product that would set a minimum whether it's a large/small mini. e.g. it takes X minutes to produce, the machine depreciates at X, the molds cost X, the molds wear out after X casts, items have standardized packaging that take up shelf/storage space in the warehouse.

The number of miscasts on smaller pieces also tends to be higher resulting in more waste/recasts.

It may also be based on the low sales experience of fighters in their other game AeroTech. Combat has greater focus on the larger vessels and thus the fighters for that game sell less frequently.

For the most part IWM has standardized their prices based largely on the weight of the minis/how much metal they use (some exceptions apply). IWM has been known to lower prices in the past. Demand will probably also greatly determine the outcome.

As to the arguments of shipping/tax from the US, I can empathize, but don't have much sympathy. :D On the whole, the UK has much better/higher quality minis than the US and the import cost/higher price in the other direction sucks equally. Write the Royal Mail postmaster a letter. If demand is high enough, I'm sure Mongoose will ship some to the UK or another entrepreneur will have them shipped in bulk to reduce the cost.
