Well to be fair the Avioki isn't a high end battleship. It is quite poor at present.

But there IS a raid level version, the Batrado....
Yes exactly, and there is the Kaliva.
Primus is a great ship, and Tertius is verging on (but not quite IMO) "broken".

G'Quan is kinda sucks. G'Lan is sucks. The War level variants suck even more.

well whats the point in creating more variants, there are too many as it is.
The G'Quan is a good ship you just said you dont play as them so how would you know its a bad ship, maybe it could do with a bit of up gunning.
As for the Kaliva thats not so great i now prefer the Avioki

As others have said, at the moment 2e does not exist. Regardless of what has, or has not been written. The rules are not published, there are no books sat around waiting to be bought, its not even in 'Area 51'. For all intents, and purpose, there is no 2e. They are still play testing the rules, and not matter how privy anyone is to the play testing (I know I am not), they could be changed completely in 6 months time. So to say anything about 2e, is just asking terse comments from the forum members.

I play them, the G'Quan is a poor ship for it's priority, it used to be scary as crap, until e-mines got nerfed ( Pre SFOS they were damned scary, now they are just useless) My G'Quans have a dismal kill rate, and usually get critted out of the game long before they die, so they are great damage takers. . . The kills however have to come from elsewhere.
and I'm impressed, the first person ever to not rate the kaliva?!

I would know because I have considerable experience of the game, and have created a ship viewer so know most of the stats fairly intimately. I have played against them on numerous occasions. I know Narn players, and they hardly ever take a G'Quan. That is a great shame in my opinion because they are a great model from the show which should be used more often than the more popular choices.

Are you talking about 2e here? Pretty much everyone perfers Kaliva to Avioki in 1e. And, 1e is where we are now.

The Avioki is good if your using the tournament list but thats no longer in use officially, the current 'official' fleet lists is SFoS + any changes in Armageddon. Tourney list goes 'poof'. Which is a great shame really as there were some massive improvements there imho (the Warlock and Avioki for two examples felt about right, so did the G'Quan for that matter).

As an aside the current G'Quan IS still a good ship imho if you fit it with ship breaker emines.

IF it can survive umpteen rounds of shooting without being crited out of the game, the 10" range on ship breakers makes them a bit un-used, no point ever in putting them on the dag-kar for example.

No not on a Dag'Kar but Ive seen a G'Quan do nasty, nasty things to other ships with them in the past. That said I think the problem with taking tha Ka'Tocs isnt really a problem with the G'Quan but rather a problem with the game as a whole. It favours buying down for swarms of smaller ships too much (almost to the point where its not worth TAKING big ships unless you absolutely must).

So would you rather take a Tertius, or 4 Vorchans? :P

Even if you choose the Vorchans, you still had to think about it for a little while, didn't you? With the G'Quan or Ka'Tans, its a no-brainer. If there was a G'Koth, you'd be very tempted to take one of them and 2x Ka'Tan rather than 4x Ka'Tan.

Sometimes they work - had a Victory demolish my entire Centauri fleet................ Octurions, Elutarian, Magnus, even the Maximus!!!!! :(

.

No not all, Tertius, easily. The Vorchans are the weak Centauri ship.

There are a few exceptions but in the case of the Centauri your talking about two ships that ARE problem ships. The Vorchan currently is rubbish (though personally I still think it DOES have its uses) and the Tertius is too good.

I think that there IS a need for better Narn raiding ships at raid, and complaints from Centauri players is evident that they are genuinely worried that the playing field is being leveled. Also using the '2e' card, as many have said is a moot point :?

that is utter nonsense! For some one afraid of having a playing field levelled why did I suggest more powerful energy mines and better Narn ships in playtesting?

stick to facts

I play Centauri and not complaining - but then I am comfortable in the inate genetic superiroity of the Centauri race.
and the Maximus! :D
