Fleet balancing

Green_Knight

Mongoose
cause we have many posts complaining about balance issuesm
i just want to chime in (after several games of 2nd) and simply say:

Until now 2nd Edition is the most balanced of all the Editions of Mongooses
Bayblon 5 Wars.

Many thanks to the playtesters.

Despite the moans and gripes about the Centauri, the Gaim, the BlueStar and whatever else is the favourite moan of the day I agree this is the best of the ACTA incarnations yet. Top stuff with variety between the fleets and a real choice for the player.

I tend to agree, from what Ive seen so far 2nd Ed is generally a big improvement and the most balanced version to date. The only sticking point I have at the moment is the Gaim. I dont think theyre broken and I certainly dont think theyre unbeatable but I think they might possibly be a tad too good as a tournament fleet in that they require you to tailor your fleet to fight them too much to stand much chance, either that or play a boring old beam team style fleet (that also tend to be vulnerable to Emining). Still I might give the 'new improved Centauri Laser brigade' a try sometime (Primus, 2 Sullusts, 2 Darkners)

Cant put it better than that. The new edition is LOADs better than 1e, and i already liked playing then alot. Its just that there is still work ahead.

I had pretty much given up on ACTA before the new rules came out. They are heaps better than the previous edition. Fighters work much better now. There may be one or two gripes around the edges - most notably the GAIM as a tourney fleet, but I've thoroughly enjoyed trying various fleets out under these rules, and it seems pretty much every fleet has a weakness that they need to work around.
