Fixed Mounting Versus Turrets

Dracous

Banded Mongoose
On Page 111 of of the core rulebook, fixed mounting take up zero tons.

In High Guard, for small craft only, they take up 1 ton per weapon installed. (Page 61)

Why does the small craft get the raw end of this deal?

Per mount not weapon.... Just like Ships....

A side effect of the system being dominated by whole tons. Bring in a decimal place on a regular basis and all sorts of things change...

Still more than in the TMB. There fixed mounts take up no tonnage at all.

The TMB and High Guard weren't wrien at the same time, so can't be expected to conform exactly in every detail. High Guard is a better thought out and more scalable iteration of the rules. A lot of things that were simplified or glossed over in the TMB were changed for High Guard, such as power requirements for energy weapons.

I'd say that High Guard supercedes the TMB if you have it, but don't sweat it if you don't. If forced to, I'd just chalk up minor issues like this to diferences between design standards and eqipment specifications at different shipyards but I realy don't think it's a big deal.

What Simon said.

CT had similar problems between Book 2 and High Guard. From what I've seen, Mongoose did a better job at the transition between the two, though there are still quirks.
